In addition to snowmobiles, this closure includes ATV’s and UTV’s (both tracked and wheeled). All ATV trails will remain closed as well. Hello Riders!
Sawyer County trails are still open but not in good condition. The trails in the open and those exposed to the sun and elements are very bare and brown and are covered in what we in Sawyer County call SNIRT (snow + dirt)!
The lakes that are pulling up stakes include: east side of the Chippewa Flowage, west side of the Chippewa Flowage, and Lake Hayward. We will continue to update as lake reports come in.
There is snow in the forecast the end of the week and later into the next two weeks, if we do get a fair accumulation the protected wooded trails do have a fair base and there could be some wooded rides mapped out. Again, we will update at that time.
Surrounding counties are wrestling with Mother Nature as well and have had to CLOSE their trails. Those counties are; Ashland, Washburn, Rusk, Price and the Clam Lake area. Bayfield County continues to be open as of today.
We will continue to post any updates as the week progresses and more decisions are made about lakes. Thank you for checking back and the well wishes for snow from all snowmobilers, it seems far too early for the season to be closing in.
Thank you to all the club members and volunteers for your dedication and hard work and wishes to you all to stay safe as you take on the responsibilities to ensure our safety!

Trail report for February 20 2017-Trails are poor. With the 50 + temps and sunshine over the weekend the trails really took a hit. The corners and around town are bare and icy. We have slush and dirt where the sun hits our trails and logging areas are very bare. Please use caution. Out in the woods it is not that bad. We are expecting a little rain today. Hopefully our base can last because there is a snowstorm coming at the end of the week with several inches of snow possible. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.
