Date of Report: February 2, 2025

Area Report:

February 2, 2025 – 9:12am – 25 degrees – High 36 – Low tonight 19 – Light SNOW

Sno-Eagles
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
OPEN – Poor

2-3 inches of new SNOW late yesterday into this morning.  SNOWING now.  Wet heavy looking SNOW.  Overcast all day today. Snow tomorrow.  1/2 inch forecast.  Next SNOW Wednesday into Thursday.  Maybe an inch.  Then SNOW next Saturday.  Couple of inches.  After today temps for the next week teens to low 20’s during the day. Single digits at night.  SNOW we get isn’t going anywhere.  For the most overcast all week.

As for the trails yesterday heading out my way, which are the one way trail 10.  Heading east on the south side was covered with hard frozen base.  Heading into town on the north side was nearly major snirt & bare. In town same to report except the area by Circle K South where snow was hauled in to build a trail.  From there north grade 10/13 mostly snirt or bare.  Heading back into the woods after crossing Hwy G was hard frozen snow with a few snirt spots.  10/13 aka Wisconsin River Bridge trail is under cover and was hard frozen.  At the bridge very icy on both sides.   SNOW cover picked up on parts of 10/13 to the intersection.  Heading north on 13 was Fair at best.  Burned corners. Heading west on 10.  Under cover ok.  Open areas snirt &/or hard frozen.  No report for you on Trail 3 or 17.  Eagle Lake is ice and hard SNOW covered.  Please stay by the barrels & do not wander into the channel to Scattering Rice Lake.  Never safe there.  Also do not ride down the thoroughfare to Voyageur.  Deep and never safe.  Lots of aerators all along the shoreline. All in all ADVENTURE SLEDDING.

With the SNOW late yesterday after, which was wet it may have improved.  Sno-Eagles were out panning and maybe grooming some of the trails.  Here where they worked:

  • Trail 10/13 through town in both directions
  • Trail 10W/13N to connect with Conover
  • Trail 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge
  • Trail 13N to connect with Conover at Trail 45
  • Trail 10/7W to Sayner Barnstormers & St. Germain BoBoen connect – to include Trail 1 that ends at Hwy G
  • Trail 3N to Trail 10/13 connect
  • Trail 17N to Columbus Rd east & to Trail 1 that ends at the Eagle Lake boat launch

IF YOU ARE RIDING REMEMBER ONEIDA COUNTY & FOREST COUNTY ARE NOT OPEN.  THAT INCLUDES SUGAR CAMP, THREE LAKES.

     In Sno-Eagles Country that means

Trail 17S – connect with Sugar Camp
Trail 7 aka Paintball Field off Trail 17S connects with Sugar Camp
Trail 10E – Head toward Phelps not Three Lakes

Suggest buying a map.  All 11 clubs in Vilas have a map that has their area on one side & the entire County on the other side.  There have been several re routes in Sno-Eagle Country and in other clubs.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
OPEN – Poor

The temps popped way up yesterday into the high 30’s with bright evil sunshine.  Trails took a beating especially those on the northside of highways & those in the wide open.  In town riding is an adventure as well.  The berm trail that Sno-Eagles running from the Circle C to Wall St. in town is hold along with the snow covered area by the Ice Castle.  From there north it snirt all the way out.  Heading east on 10E is snirt heading to town & snow covered heading back home on the one-way trail.  Roads are either ice or bare. In woods snow covered where there is shade & high end snirt where it’s not.  SNOW Saturday night.  Let’s hope it a lot!

Grooming has been halted until there is more SNOW.

Riding is adventure sledding right now.  There was a fatality this past Saturday in Vilas County.  The rider was crossing a lake over the night time speed limit of 55.  Which is on ALL trails at night.  Not on trail.  Missed exit that is marked.  Please think when you ride.

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: Clunky to 4-6″

Date of Report: January 30, 2025

Snowmobile Information:

OK, so I went to a “Fair” rating. Is your glass half full of half empty? Our main grade 17 from Mattke to Stearns Lake Rd is marginal to prozac.  Groomer Matt, and his wife Renee, and I, went to Gresham Lodge for dinner. Good food. But, trail #1 Stearns Lake Rd to East Boundary, has decent snow to run on. I was in my pickup, but I have to assume trail #1 from East Boundary up to 51 to Gresham is good yet. I ran 17 from Stearns through the Raven today at 43 degrees then took MS Riders Jay and his son CJ to Tackle Box, across the lakes, 23 north, then back across Moss lake to club trails back to Stearns Lake road again. Not bad riding. Avoid 17 where the sun gets at it. The MS rider advance party has been on patrol doing their homework on where they can ride tomorrow, and come and have lunch at the Northern Hornshoe groomer barn. We still have snow, and some decent riding, but one has to kind of sort of root out the good, the bad, and the ugly. It is still doable, and the weather forecast looks positive, but the whole thing has one foot on ice, and another one on a banana peel. Stay snowy my friends. Mark

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 5″-8″

Date of Report: January 30, 2025

Area Report:

Trails remain in fair condition. Today’s weather did not help with plenty of sunshine and highs in the low 40’s.  Trails have been groomed but are showing rough patches and plenty of snirt.  2″-4″ are in the forecast for late Saturday night through early Sunday morning.  And it looks like more chances into next week.  Let’s hope they are right.

Trail Report – : Bayfield County, Wisconsin – January 30, 2025

Reporter:BayfieldCounty

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 3-6

Date of Report: January 30, 2025

Area Report:

Conditions are variable throughout the county ranging from Poor to Good.

The warm temps this week have really deteriorated trails that were previously in Fair condition.  Trail conditions vary drastically throughout the county. Snow is more plentiful in the north; the more inland you go, the more snow there is.

Dual use trails: we ask that AVT/UTV’s do not travel on groomed trails when the temps are above or around freezing. Ruts left in the trail in these low snow conditions will be near impossible to remove. Please use good judgment when out riding your ATV/UTV in these conditions.

Trail closures: Closures in Drummond and White River areas are due to low snow conditions and private property concerns. Do not go around “Trail closed” signs.

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – January 30, 2025

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 3-5″

Date of Report: January 30, 2025

Area Report:

We groomed our entire system on Wednesday night. We both went out thinking we would just hit the middles for humps, and inspect the trail system for down trees and signs. Surprisingly, the trails panned in fairly well. There are a few corners that are bare, along with a few road crossings. But overall, the trails looked fair to good. Thursday is going to be a warm day, if we can survive this one day warm up, trails should be good. More snow is in the forecast for Saturday.

News and Reports:

Trail 12 from the RR grade TIN 732 to County K TIN 731 has ruts from ATVs. There isn’t enough snow to fill the ruts. We put signs at each end of the trail for Caution Next 1 mile and Rough Trail. Use caution when traveling this area.

The Cemetery Trail from TIN 724 to TIN 725, and south to TIN 727 at Church Rd is thin for snow cover. You will find a few bare spots, There is a hill between TIN 725 and TIN 726 at Lindberg Rd that was bare from sleds going up it. The swamp area did freeze up, so it is good to go.

Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 30, 2025

Reporter:boulderwi

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 1-4″

Date of Report: January 30, 2025

Area Report:

At 8:00 am it is 20 degrees out with sunny skies and a high of 40 degrees for the day and a
chance of light snow on Saturday.
We groomed 15N/6E Monday pm, 15S/11 Tuesday am, 8W Tuesday pm, and 2W Wednesday
pm. All these trails were rough prior to going out grooming.
Our trails are in fair to poor conditions with a 1”- 4” base with some icy patches, and dirt and
gravel is starting to come through our base. Our road trails are in good condition and our road
and town routes still have enough packed snow on them. This will probably change after todays
high temp near 40 and the sun being out.
The entire county is in need of snow and some clubs have discontinued grooming until we get
some substantial snow.
Look for an updated trail report on Monday, February 3rd .

Reporter:hurley@hurleywi.com

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4″

Date of Report: January 30, 2025

Snowmobile Information:

The snow was very sticky tonight as the temperature was rising. Unfortunately the predicted high for today is in the 40s. With any luck, the 5″ of new snow we received in Oma this morning,, will hold up for colder days this weekend. We groomed trails to the Island and Pine Lake areas tonight, and to Hurley this morning. Grooming operations will cease today with the warmer temperatures, and will start again on Friday. Please stay on the trails, control your speed with the changing conditions, and have fun!
We were lucky enough to see Dave from Snowmobile Wisconsin TV tonight, who said our trails have been good considering conditions aren’t like normal seasons. We thank him for visiting our slice of Iron County trails.
