Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – February 10, 2025

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: minimal

Date of Report: February 10, 2025

Area Report:

Trails opened over the weekend and we were blessed with approximately 5″ of snowfall on Saturday.  We have had the entire crew on grooming the trails and building a base for more snow.   The trails are a mixed bag.  Always start with the positive…..The forest roads, and rail beds are flat and have the best trail base.  You may find some gravel or rocks coming through, but overall – good.   The marsh areas are “fair” due to lack of a base.  There could be holes, ruts, and overall lack of snow.  The fields (Starks) are poor.  The fields are very low on snow and there are a few sections of “plowed” areas that are very rough.  All in all I would put them in “fair” condition.  We didn’t see a ton of traffic last weekend, so we are not experiencing the corners burned out or moguls.

The Lakes have plenty of ice, and all should be marked “Barrels”.

Can you find a good ride with lower than middle of February expectations, YES.  Come support the businesses.

Trail Report – : Antigo/Langlade County, Wisconsin – February 10, 2025

Reporter:langlade

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 2-6

Date of Report: February 10, 2025

Area Report:

THE ENTIRE LANGLADE COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAIL SYSTEM INCLUDING STATE FUNDED TRAILS ARE SCHEDULED TO OPEN ON WEDNSEDAY FEBRUARY 12th, AT 8:00 A.M.

ATVs are not allowed on snowmobile trails until 10 days after the opening of the snowmobile trails and when the temperature is above 28° F. ATVs will be authorized to utilize snowmobile trails on February 22, 2025. UTVs are not allowed on the Langlade County Snowmobile trail at any time system due to the weight and width of the machines.

The snowmobile clubs and Snowmobile Council authorize the trail opening times based upon their trail preparations and trail conditions. The Snowmobile Council chose to hold off opening until this week to get a more frozen trails base following the Saturday snow. This frozen base will assist in the trails staying safe and maintainable for a longer period, barring any extremely warm weather.

The Langlade County Snowmobile clubs, sponsors, and operators of the existing trails, have put in many volunteered hours brushing, signing, and grooming to provide snowmobile trails for your use. Please support the snow clubs, thank them for their efforts, and patronize their business sponsors.

All lake trails in Langlade County are considered unsafe and should not be utilized until they have been clearly marked by a local snowmobile club. As always, the Langlade County Forestry, Parks & Recreation Department recommends riders stay on clearly marked trails.

The snowmobile clubs spend a considerable amount of time working with landowners to be able to provide the exceptional trail system we have. Please respect private property and the efforts of the clubs to access private property; use of trails across private lands is a privilege. Always exercise caution when riding a snowmobile, the trails are in rough, early-season condition.

For questions regarding specific trail conditions please contact the local snowmobile club or visit their social media accounts or go to www.langladecounty.org/resources/trail-reports/. You may also contact the Forestry, Parks and Recreation at 715-627-6300.

We hope that you enjoy the Langlade County trail system this winter and thank you for supporting the economy and businesses of Langlade County!
