Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Monday, 2/20/2023

At 8:00 a.m. it’s 5 degrees out with partly cloudy skies with snow coming this afternoon.

We haven’t groomed since last Thursday and there was very little sled traffic this past weekend due to the lack of snow and icy trails.

With 3 waves of snow forecast starting today through Thursday, our trails should be in better shape later this week.

We will start grooming again tomorrow if we receive enough new snow tonight.

Check in for an updated snowy trail report on Wednesday, February 23.

LINCOLN COUNTY: Zones 2, 3, 4, CLOSED. Zone 1 partially open. ONEIDA COUNTY: Open.

However, trails are ice or bare and no snow cover remains on lakes. Our clubs recommend staying off trails until conditions improve, at which time grooming will resume and closed trails may reopen. Snow is in the forecast this week.

Zone 1 Trails remaining closed are as follows: Trail 86 from Intersection #25 to the Taylor County Line. Corridor 21 from Hwy M north of Homestead Road to the Taylor County Line.

ATVs are only allowed on designated trails when temperatures are below 28F. No UTVs.

As always, we remind riders to stay on marked trails. Off trail riding is trespassing and could result in closure or loss of trails and citations and fines for those who participate.

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – February 20, 2023

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: Ice

Date of Report: February 20, 2023

Area Report:

Bad news – Trails are still ice and no grooming occured over the weekend.

Good News – There is snow arriving Monday into Tuesday with 3-5″ of fresh snow. Then another one hits Wednesday into Thursday and that one is suppose to bring more snow than the first.

I’ll update with snow totals as we receive them and when grooming resumes.

Remember that under this new snow is a sheet of glare ice. If this snow we receive is dry, it will slide off the ice easily making corners very slippery. Please remember to slow down and Ride Right, Ride Safe!

News and Reports:

  • A reminder to ride between the orange blazers. Along Hwy K West, there were several 100 trees removed this summer to place new electric poles. Most of the stumps are still there. If you were to hit one, it could ruin your trip quickly. Ride Right ➡️ Ride Safe.
  • To see where the Groomer is at, check out  Groomer Tracker  Half the cost of the app comes back to Conover Sno-Buddies to support grooming operations.

Snowmobile Information:

Our annual Poker Run starts December 24th and ends on March 4th. You can pick up game cards to be stamped at several locations in Conover, Eagle River, Phelps, and Land O Lakes. Draw party is March 4th. No need to be present to win.

February 25th – We Ride for Jacob Event at Dublin Sports Bar from 11am-5pm. Proceeds go to Jacob Sieg Memeorial Scholarship.

March 17 – Fundraiser at Club 45. Annual St. Patricks Day Corned Beef dinner. Money raised at this benefit go to the Sno-Buddies for trail maintenance. Come out and enjoy a Corned Beef dinner provided by the Payne Family.

Reporter:Phelps Snowmobile Club

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 2″-8″

Date of Report: February 20, 2023

Area Report:

Good morning.  Warm and sunnyweather on Saturday didn’t help the trails.  Trails remain open with some bare and very icy conditions.  The good news is, they are forecasting 3″-5″ of snow tonight into Tuesday and more snow Wednesday into Thursday that could produce, as of now, 4″-8″.  This will really help the trails and grooming should start back up if we get these amounts.  Check back later in the week for more updates.  No matter where you ride, always remeber to “Ride Right”

Snowmobile trails have degraded to POOR & not safe.  Here is a statement directly from the President of the Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club, Keith Nettesheim:

“Trail Report

We’ve been receiving many inquiries if people should come up this weekend and how trail conditions will be.  As of today, all main routes are bare near town and solid ice on routes out of town.

Conditions are POOR.  We do not recommend riding this weekend or until conditions improve.

The temperature is finally falling below freezing, however this is leaving nothing bt ice everywhere making very hazardous conditions.  If you’re coming up for the weekend, there’s plenty of fun going on across the Northwoods with various events, but you’re going to want to leave the sleds parked.  We would rather be honest with you about conditions before you tear up your machines and are highly disappointed.  Grooming operations are on hold until we receive some snow to work with.  There is hope on the horizon with weather systems next week, but it’s too far out to get too excited about.  Be sure to patronize our local establishments and sponsors to show your support.”

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 0-2

Area Report:

Despite the snowfall and do warm weather and unfrozen ground the Kenosha County Trails will remain closed until further notice.

Generally speaking Kenosha County Trails require 4 inches of snow on frozen ground or 6 inches on unfrozen ground. This is to protect crops in many  fields which through the grace of the landwoners allow us to pass through.
