Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 35-45 inches

Date of Report: March 8, 2019

Area Report:

Trail report for March 8, 2019– Trails are very good. It is currently about 12 Deg below zero. There may be an increase in temperature during the next few days. We are expecting a snow storm over the weekend and we will have to wait to see how much snow we get. With all this snow we have we should have very nice trails until the end of the month. The snowmobile trails will close March 31, 2019! The groomers were out last night and early this morning. With the cold weather at night the trails stiffen up and stay flatter longer. We expect increased traffic over the weekend so watch out for other riders. The snow on the trails is very clean and has decreased melting to a minimum on the bright sunny days. Please stay on marked trails. Use caution at road crossings. The snow banks are very high, and visibility is very low.  Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Gogebic Area Groomers have been out hitting all our trails and reporting that they are in great shape. Temps look to increase over the next few days – but nothing to be concerned about given the massive amounts of snow we’ve received. In addition,John Dee says that we may be in for another foot of snow this weekend and possibly even a heavy St. Paddy’s Day Storm.

We’ve got a lot of good riding to be had this March

EAGLE RIVERS  TRAILS
On average GOOD with VERY GOOD

March 8 2019 6:32am  – 5 below  – High 31

It’s Friday & the weekend is here!  Temps will be warming.  Partly cloudy today & mostly cloudy Saturday.  SNOW moving in Saturday night.  Weather.com says 3-5 inches of SNOW.  There are other forecasts for 4-8 inches.  Guess we wait & see.

Plenty of SNOW everywhere. SNOW is deep & the trails are great.  With warmer temps the conditions will begin to change.  So get out & ride.

As for trail conditions. Trails are filled with plenty of SNOW.  With the sun out during the day & cold nights there will be some SNOW that softens up during the day & gets crusty over night. SNOW levels will drop.  But SNOW is very deep.  With that in mind off trail riding is never recommended & with this deep SNOW doubly so. Corners are in many sections are piled high with loose SNOW.  There is still SNOW on the trail with no blow outs.  Icy conditions on some sections of the road trails.  All in all it’s really GOOD to VERY GOOD riding out there.  If you are riding sure you noticed that Trail 17N is sitting very high up.  Same with sections of 10E.  Please read the important updates for more info.  As of yesterday even with the sun mush at the crossings was minimal.

Grooming again last night. The gts.groomertrackingsystem reports everything groomed except these 3 sections:

Paintball field aka 7
70W to St. Germain connect
1N to the Eagle Lake boat launch

Everything else groomed.

These important updates continue:

There is 1 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd. Plus utility work on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.

The snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings are still high. Road crews are still out winging road banks.  Expect some blocked road & driveway crossings.  Please stop & cross with caution.

Still seeing some signs buried in the deep SNOW.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Lakes are drifted & lots & lots of slush under the SNOW especially on Catfish Lake.  Drifting on Eagle Lake is much worse than on Catfish Lake.

The 2 one-way trail areas are 10E from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Please be aware that for now signs will be buried in many locations.  PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK A MAP SO YOU KNOW THE LOCATION OF THESE TRAILS.

See ya on the trails. Get out & ride it is great out there!

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 30-40”

Date of Report: March 8, 2019

Area Report:

Here are your current conditions
Our trail system is still open. The lastest we can stay open is till March 31st.
Trails are in very good condition. Best time to ride is first thing in the morning. Watch out for deer, if you come upon them, please give them some time to get off the trails. Use extreme caution at road crossings, snow banks are high and tough to see cross traffic. Stay on the trail on the lakes, if you get off, you will get stuck. Please use caution when you see the deer. They are having a hard time with all the snow, slow down and give them time to get off the trails. Watch out for low hanging branches. All trails are being groomed 4-5 times a week.

Please stay on the trail, or you have a good chance of getting stuck. You must yield to the groomers, they have the right away. It is much easier to get a sled unstuck then it is a groomer.

Please, slow down and limit your drinking. Way too many fatalities in northern Wisconsin, and they all can be prevented.

Lakes are all marked. Remember, stay as close to the barrels as possible. If you don’t see barrels, assume they are not safe.

Please respect our private landowners and stay on the trail. We have had a couple issues this year already and it always puts our trails in danger.

Use caution at all road crossing as they are icy.

Check our Facebook page for information about the new hoodies and T-shirt’s we have for sale.

Weather is warming up also so you may not freeze your….off this weekend riding. The March sun is going to make some road routes and gas stations tough but get in the woods and ENJOY! Nightly grooming continues on Frosty Club trails.

News and Reports:

The frosty club cash raffle was last night at Rogers Bar as they sold the most tickets last year. 1st place winner of $3000.00 was Jerry Olk from Headwaters Bank fame among other things. Congrats to Jerry and the other winners. A huge THANK YOU to KIWI for running the raffle and getting all the tickets sold. We still have some logging going on our trails so please Watch for the signs warning you on 8-45 north and 45-13 south. Log trucks have the rite away so please be careful when approaching. With the warning weather conditions my change more rapidly so be prepared for trails to get used up a bit faster.
