Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 20″ to 30″

Date of Report: December 31, 2019

Area Report:

The rain hurt our awesome snow, but with the snow we got yesterday into today, the trails are back in business.  The groomers went back out at dark last night and were out all day, as usual.  Snow totals were 18″ and more.   There are several trails that have wet spots that I will list below.  Luckily we had a good, hard base and the new snow was all we needed to whip the trails back into shape.  The Dreamland trail is open and being groomed.  Get your trip together, you don’t want to miss the best trail system around!!

Remember:  Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden will be closed for the season, as well as the Freda Loop.

  • Trail 124 to Gay has slush/water on the Phoenix side of the Gay/Mohawk Road.
  • Trail 122 should be avoided due  to water.
  • Trail 132 has several wet areas.
  • Trail out to High Rock Point has deep water and should be avoided.
  • Trail 134 has a wet area.

Please ride with caution.  There may be other wet areas popping up or trees coming down from the heavy snow.

See you on the trails!!!

Ashland County Snowmobile Report December 31, 2019
Ashland County trails are open but reported poor condition and not being groomed at this time.  LOTS of standing WATER on the trail.  If you see water, please do not go through some is very deep.  Be respectful of the farmers land! Stay on trail, much of the Ashland County snowmobile trail system uses private property and could be lost if the property owners experiences issues. The most common complaints are snowmobiles not staying on trails or going off into fields that are not part of the trail, and loud noise from non-stock muffler systems. Respect the trail system so that it remains open. The Tri-county corridor is open.

Hello Riders!

Most of Sawyer County received approximately 5-6″ of fresh snow yesterday. The temps continue to be below freezing and that is what we need to firm things up again after the low temps and rain last weekend. The northern part of the county has some good trails in the county forests however in low spots there is standing water. The southern area is reporting a lot of standing water and slush. Due to this all grooming in Sawyer County continues to be on hold until the cool temps can firm things up. Some groomers have been out to test the trails but find it will do more damage than good so they will stay off until hardened. We are asking your help to ride and pack the trails, this packs that fresh snow in so it freezes and sets. We ask that you ride the width of the groomer, approximately 8-9 feet apart. This trail packing is so important to aid in getting groomers back out so grab your sleds!

Please no lake or swamp riding until further notice as well.

Keep checking back as we will continue to update

Trail update – December 31, 2019: Groomers were out last night through early this morning doing what they could. With the large amounts of snow it will create bumps quickly. This is a wet snow and needs to be packed down and then a freeze up to make them stiff. Groomers will be out again this afternoon and tonight. Please have patience folks.

Trail report for December 30, 2019 – Poor to fair. The bad news is that the temps the last couple of days were in the 30’s with rain and lots of traffic degrading our trails rapidly. The good news is that it is snowing right now we are expected to get several inches of snow through today with cooler temps. We will just have to wait to see how much snow we receive. 6” to 9” is expected. Along with cooler temps our groomers will be out grooming to make a better ride for you starting tonight. Be aware that groomers can be out grooming at any time of the day or night grooming. Take all directions from the groomer. Please pray for more snow and subzero temps. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Good morning we just got back in from grooming it was a long night with all the trees and branches in the trail. There are some wet spots on the trails so please be careful while riding and remember we just got 2 days of rain and now wet heavy snow. However trails are in good shape. Both swamps on trail 12 on the power line heading to Dublin’s has open water holes . People have been sneaking around the outside but be very careful if you attempt to go that way . I will work on clearing some brush to possibly make a little better route around the water and maybe some hay bales in the water holes in a couple hours but I have to get some sleep quick. I broke open the swamp heading to maple view off trail 3 and shoveled a bunch of snow in so please stay off so it can freeze. I am trying to get a route to Chicago Avenue so you can get to maple view. Pioneer lake is marked now I was told. trail 12 through the cemetery is still closed. Please ride safe and smart while we get the trails back in shape. Thank you your trail boss Chad
