Trail 2 from Hurley to Ramsay US-2 Crossing:
Overall rating: VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT
Last groomed 2/17/2020. Please do not ride on sidewalks near Holiday and try to keep noise down in town.
Trail 2 from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield:
Overall rating: FAIR TO EXCELLENT
Last groomed 2/17/2020. This is a tight trail with tremendous amounts of traffic. Corners will get icy along with the hill climbs in between grooming. We’re going to do some snow finding grooms later this week to add fresh snow into the base to help it hold for the weekend. This trail is featuring a brand new section to enjoy this season, the club eliminated Prospect road route and moved the trail completely into the woods eliminating 1.5 miles of road route. PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL AND RESPECT THESE LANDOWNERS!
Trail 2 from Wakefield to Marenisco:
Overall Rating: EXCELLENT
Last groomed 2/17/2020. Also in the best shape of the season. The section from Wakefield east to Highway 2 needs additional passes to finish cutting the deep inside corner bumps and widen the trail. We expect to get to that this week yet.
Trail 8 from Wakefield to Tula Crossing:
Overall Rating: EXCELLENT
Last Groomed 2/17/2020. In excellent condition, be aware of a new traffic pattern on the northern end due to a plowed section. Please follow the new route for the remainder of this season.
Trail 160 from Walmart to Montreal River (WI):
Overall Rating: EXCELLENT
Last Groomed 2/17/2020. There is logging about 1/2 way north on the trail, YIELD TO LOGGERS AND GIVE THEM RESPECT – IT’S THEIR LAND! STAY ON THE TRAIL!!!!!! This is our most scenic trail and is a treat to ride! Stay on the trail in the farm fields. Over 25 landowners are involved to make this trail a reality, please respect them and ride responsibly. There are several scenic vistas on the trail:
Bald Mountain “NORTH” lookout viewing Madeline Island/ mouth of the Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior
Bald Mountain “SOUTH” lookout viewing Gogebic Range (Powderhorn, Copper Peak)
Superior Falls Waterfall Complex.
11S (Wakefield, MI to Winchester, WI):
Overall Rating: EXCELLENT
Last Groomed 2/17/2020. Increased logging traffic is in the area, PLEASE YIELD TO ANY AND ALL LOGGING TRAFFIC. There is a short section of dual use the landowner (Keweenaw Land) has graciously approved us to use along with them. It is private land and we are guests, please act like it.
11N (Wakefield, MI to South boundary Rd/White Pine): Closed due to off trail riding. Seeking local community support with ideas on how to reopen it. 200 yards of private property closed this 25 mile trail
Little less than inch over the last 24 hours brings the Lake Gogebic Area total to 131.5 inches for the season. Forecast Looks like 2-4 inches tomorrow through Thursday with colder temperatures. Gogebic Area Groomers report that they are out running now and all night every night getting the trails into really good shape! President’s weekend is going to be a busy one which is something to keep in mind when getting gas, going out to eat, etc.
Groomers are running nightly, trails are in good shape. Groomers run once a day and typically at night, so towards the end of the day with lots of traffic the trails are going to be rough until the groomer goes out again
Trail #3 from the Wisconsin border to Watersmeet good but lots of traffic very hard to hold a groom, Watersmeet to Paulding good. Both logging project on Trail #3 are done
Trail #2 west of Watersmeet to Trail #1 south, very good
Trail #2 east of Watersmeet to Trail #107, good but lots of traffic hard to hold the groom
Trail #13 south to Cisco Chain, good

Trail report for February 17, 2020 – Trails are good. The present temp in Boulder Junction this morning is 8 above zero. The rest of the day we could get temps in the low 30’s. The groomers were out last night and laid out a nice flat trail. With the subzero temps in the early morning the trail stiffens up and will stay smoother longer. We are expecting some more snow later today but looks like only a couple of inches. We could really use more snow to freshen up our trails. The corners and other areas can be bare and icy. Use caution. I would like to thank Chef Jesse and Chef Jimmy Dean and their crew for hosting the breakfast fundraiser at the Boulder Beer Bar Sunday. I also like to thank all the helpers and everyone that supported and made this event so successful. It was a great breakfast spread! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Warm temps and a chance of rain today have closed our trails. Now we wait to see if we get another chance at opening them back up. But that will definitely require more snow and colder weather. A big thank you to all of our volunteers in clubs and the groomer drivers who logged a lot of hours to give us a couple good days of riding.

Trails continue to get look great each week. All of the groomers are out on their nightly runs. There is little to no slush on the lakes.
The road crossings and routes are getting thin, but manageable.
Really is a good time to get out and ride.

SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER
Good – Some ice under looser SNOW
Heavy traffic over the weekend
President’s Day brings a pop up in temps. High of 32 today with a 15 tonight. SNOW moving in this afternoon into tonight. Forecast totals of 1-3 inches of SNOW. After SNOW moves through temps will drop down into the teens during the day until Friday. Below zero or near below zero at night until Friday.
Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS Trails) reports shows almost all trails were groomed in the last 24 hours. Here are the small sections not groomed in the last 24 hours.
ALL OTHER TRAILS WERE GROOMED
Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked. Can’t confirm myself but no reports of surface slush. Eagle Lake a little chop but nothing bad. Icy with blow off of snow in some sections. Please slow down.
With the heavy traffic there are areas that are rough. Found under the SNOW cover is ice so it can be squirrelly. Sled can dart around. Both in the front & back. All in all found trails in GOOD shape. Traffic today should not be as heavy but please stay on the right not only in the corners but on straight aways & hills.
Looks like SNOW today but….KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!!
See you on the trails!
