SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER
Good to Very Good

Eagle River ended up with over 4 inches of SNOW from Monday night into mid morning yesterday.  Later afternoon that SNOW was topped off with a schiff of Lake Effect SNOW. Better yet the temps have dropped.  High today of 12 with 7 below tonight.  Thursday high of 17 & low of 3.  Looks like temps will pop up again starting Friday to next Tuesday. Stay tuned.  Plenty of SNOW & it’s time to ride!

Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS Trails) reports in the last 24 hours nearly full grooming of trails.  Listed are the trails NOT groomed

  • 17N from intersection with 10W/13N “the grade” north of town to Columbus Rd
  • 1 from intersection with 17N to the Eagle Lake boat launch
  • 1 aka Chanticleer Inn trail from 10E to the entrance to the Eagle Lake trail

ALL OTHER TRAILS GROOMED

Mid week riding a great idea. Traffic is less than the weekends.  Riding in the area found GOOD to VERY GOOD conditions with areas of EXCELLENT.  Trail 10E & the 13’s in the Buckatabon/Bauer’s Dam area are 2 EXCELLENT trails. No problem areas to report at all.  The cold temps have kept the swamp sections of the trails frozen. With regular grooming these areas have smoothed out from where they were earlier this winter.  COLD over the next 2 days will keep everything in shape.

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked.  With the cold no surface slush.  Eagle Lake a little chop but nothing bad.  Icy with blow off of snow in some sections.  Please slow down.  Remember not all lakes are safe.  Check maps & looks for markers.  If you don’t see any the lake is not safe.

Last be sure to stay on the right side when riding. Straight aways, corner & hills.

Today is Wednesday & the Sno-Eagles guided trail.  Meet at 9am at the Historic Railroad Depot on trail 10/13 across from Friendship House.

KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!!

Not riding today but see you on the trails soon!

Currently, ALL of Douglas County trails are open and are reporting great to excellent condition.  Please note, deer have been reported on trails, so please keep an eye out while traveling.

It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open.

Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic | Bergland, Michigan – February 18, 2020

Reporter:AJ’s Walleye Lodge

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: Excellent

Date of Report: February 18, 2020

Area Report:

President’s Weekend was super busy in the Lake Gogebic Area, however, all trails remain in good to excellent condition.    The snow we received over the weekend was certainly welcomed, and today we woke up to about 2” of overnight snow.  As of noon on Tuesday it’s still snowing and it doesn’t look like it’s letting up anytime soon.   C-c-cold below temps move Wednesday, which is perfectly fine considering our forecasted weekend warmup that is looking more favorable on our end as we get closer in.    Even if temps get into mid-30’s – they only hover there for a few hours, and the nightly temps are drop into the teens and 20’s, giving groomers an opportunity to get out at night and clean things up.    We’ve received almost 140” of snow this season and currently trails have more than a 2’ base.    Groomers got this – and they recommend that you just get out and ride early before the snow gets softs and starts moving around.

  • Trail # 1N: from Bergland to Whitepine is being groomed nightly and reported to be in good condition.
  • Trail # 1 South: Towards Marenisco from Trail # 8 (Ethelwood Grade) is being groomed nightly and is reported to be in good condition.
  • Trail # 1 south from Marenisco to Wisconsin Border is being groomed daily and it is reported to be in good condition.
  • Trail # 8 East from Bergland to Ewen is being groomed daily and it is reported in good condition.
  • Trail # 8W: from Bergland to Wakefield. is being groomed nightly and it is reported to be in good condition.
  • Trail 102 from Bergland to Trail #11 is being groomed nightly and it is reported to be in good condition.
  • Trail # 13 North from Bergland to 101 is being groomed nightly and it is being reported to be in good condition.
  • Trail 13 South is open, being groomed nightly and reported to be in good to excellent condition.
  • Trail #13 South from 100 to Trail # 2 is reported to be groomed daily and is in good to excellent condition.
  • Trail # 100 South end of Lake Gogebic is reported be groomed daily and is in good to excellent condition.

A congratulatory shout out to the Team at Timberline Sports who just received 2020 ski-doo NATIONAL DEALER OF THE YEAR!     What a great honor for them as well as for all their customers who have helped them to achieve this great status!    Who-hoo to Timberline for National Recognition!!
