Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic | Bergland, Michigan – February 5, 2025

Reporter:AJ’s Walleye Lodge

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Good

Date of Report: February 5, 2025

Area Report:

Wednesday, February 5, 2025

Currently blizzard warnings in effect and 1-3” of snow forecasted for today with additional snow in the forecast for Thursday and Saturday.    Single digits at night and high teens/low 20’s during the day throughout the next few days with sub-zero temperatures coming in on by the end of the weekend and through the beginning of next week.   Get ready for some cold weather.

Hats off to our Marenisco crews as they’ve been pitching in big time to help out with the Gogebic Area Trails.  The cold weather is really helping get things and both trails were left smooth and solid before the snow predicted for this week and weekend!

Lot of traffic over the past weekend – don’t expect much different for next weekend.

  • Trail 1 and Trail 8: Marenisco area crews out tonight grooming Trail 1 north from Marenisco to Trail 8.
  • 1s, to Marenisco and 8w to Wakefield were groomed
  • Trail 8e to Ewen was groomed and is improving but still a heavily traveled trail and get’s bad by afternoon.
  • 13n was attempted, long story short, machine spun out on the hills and had to turn around.
  • 102 was also covered, but without a drag. Main purpose was to knock down moguls and flatten berms.
  • Trail 8 West: has been groomed and reported in good condition.
  • Trail 100 has been completely closed due to logging. We have placed signs posting its closure and the entrance is bermed on Trail 1.  At this point there is no open trail connecting Trail 1 to the south end of Lake Gogebic.

This Saturday is International Snowmobile Day – so stop out at the Bergland Township Pavilion at 11 a.m. for live music, food and fun!

Snow Cover: 1-4 inches

Date of Report: February 5, 2025

Area Report:

Trail Report as of 2.5.2025 ❄️
Mercer Sno-Goers: Last updated report as of: 1.28.2025
All groomers are out tonight making those trails flat before the warm up coming Thursday. Trails are thin, icy in spots, and rocks showing. Conditions vary from fair to poor but are rideable. We are still in early season riding conditions. Please slow down out there, everybody’s safety should always be on your mind.
Thank you to everybody who has been coming up here and supporting our businesses, let’s keep it going!
White Thunder Riders: Report as of 2.4.2025
It’s a cold and snowy morning here in the greater Hurley area. Below-zero temperatures and light snowfall make for a more familiar February scene. We’re pretty sure there are rooms and snowmobiles to rent, burgers to keep you strong, and all kinds of fun to keep you smiling in just one little area!
Groomers were out last night, and they’ll do their magic again this morning. Please watch for them, stay on the trails, ride safe, and ride right. Today is another great day to ride!

Silent Sports Report:
MECCA Trails: as of 2.2.2025
MECCA Trails received three inches of snow overnight. The entire trail system was groomed early this morning for classical and skate skiers. Conditions are very good.
Winman Trails:
SKI: We have the tractor and power tiller out! We finally have a deep enough base to use the power tiller. This will allow us to improve the quality of our skate deck even more and will enhance overall grooming quality for the remainder of the season. The crew is out working on the skate deck currently and conditions will be excellent for Wednesday afternoon/night skiing.
FAT BIKE: Trails were all groomed on Monday and have set up really well. Great day to hit the fat bike trails. Recommending 4-5 psi.
SNOWSHOE: Snowshoe trails are open and are in great shape right now. Snowshoes are required. Remember, we offer free to borrow snowshoe in the chalet if you need.
SLEDDING: Sledding hill is open and is a great choice today with all the new snow. There are a couple of sled available to borrow but please bring your own if possible. Tubes are not recommended as they gain too much speed, but traditional plastic sleds of all varieties are a great choice.

Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – February 5, 2025

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 0-4″ but look at the forecast for the next 3 days

Date of Report: February 5, 2025

Area Report:

Rode 100 miles around Mercer, and White Thunder Trails, yesterday. I got to meet the trail boss from White Thunder yesterday, and Mercer last night at our club meeting. ( I belong to all five clubs around my Hornshoe home)  Great people , and they are doing wonders with the little snow we have.

Oneida County opens Friday morning, and Price County, Saturday morning. With that news, and 3-6″ predicted for tonight, and 3-6″ for Saturday, I gave my two groups of friends the green flag for this weekend. I also figured a pre-snow report was in order for riders headed our way.

Trail 17, the main grade, is rough on the south end Mattke to Wishow. If you utilize Fence Lake, at Frying PanTrail, you can access 17 and head north. Good riding all the way through the Raven, and fairly decent to the Powell Marsh. Out in the open in the marsh it is gravel. You can bypass that by utilizing the lake routes, and jump off of Flambeau, pick up 23, River Rd, up to 182. 182 was groomed yesterday. but is thin in spots. Trail #1, Stearns Lake Rd, and East Boundary, is “OK”.The plows push back to the dirt line, then sleds banging the banks, and the light snows, sort of fill back in. Our club trails, from H down to Moss, Crawling Stone, and the Fence Lake Landing, are also good. The truck ruts between H and 47 are still there, but filling in. We are still “fair”, with no snow.

Yesterday I rode in a group of people that included the AWSC president, Lori, and three former Miss Snowflakes. I am also close friends with a fourth former Miss Snowflake. They all belonged to, and are an active part of KAOS ( Kids And Adults On Sleds), which has their annual group ride in Manitowish Waters this weekend. Nick and Lindsey are a part of Next Gen Riders, which is a group they started for young adults that outgrew KAOS, and are too young for OGOS (Old geezers on sleds). If you ride, and have kids, or you are a young adult that rides, these are great groups to get involved in. As a guy that managed people for 36 years, and got into sledding late in life, I am awed by what families that are involved in AWSC have done to build tight family units that stay friends well into adulthood, and even third generations. I am also thoroughly impressed with the high level of confidence, poise, and professionalism, these young people grow into their adult lives with. This Friday night and Saturday, our groomer Matt is conducting a snowmobile safety class here in Lac du Flambeau. He has room in the class yet, and you can register on the DNR website. I tried to make a connection between Matt, and the KAOS people, a wee too late. But, they were ready to try and come to visit his class, with a handful of KAOS kids. Do a snow dance, and I will update after the snow, and before the weekend. Mark
