Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – February 11, 2022

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Better!!

Date of Report: February 11, 2022

Area Report:

We received 5″ of snow Thursday night it should help the trail system significantly.  The groomers are out doing double runs to hit all of our 150 miles of trails.  It takes time to hit all of them.  Once they are all groomed, they should be good.

The lakes are all marked and not showing any signs of slush. There are multiple roads across Boom Lake so use extreme caution when traveling on that route. The big ice fishing jamboree on Boom Lake is this weekend, so there will be lots of activity on the lake. The snow cover on the lake is low, so the ice fisherman can travel about anywhere so there can be truck tracks and / or plowed roads in multiple locations.

There is one trail closure on the Hodag Sno-Trails system: Trail H4 from Boom Lake to the intersection just north of River Rd. This is basically the “land” route to not running Boom Lake. The trail is closed at this point. We have been just notified that this is a permanent closure. Running the lake is the reroute.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Friday, 2/11/22:

It’s 26 degrees out this morning with about 2” of new snow overnight. Weather forecast calls for scattered lake effect snow today with colder temps for the weekend.

Last night, we groomed 2W, 51, 8W, 15N, and 6E. Early this morning after the snow, we groomed 8E, 15S, and 11.

With the additional snow and a full schedule of grooming, our trails will be in very good shape for the start of the weekend. Also, the new snow will improve the road trails going towards Land O’ Lakes and the road trails in Iron County near Winchester.

Enjoy our trails, be safe, think snow! Check for an updated report on Monday, 2/14/22.

After Snow Fair to Good

February 11, 2022 – 6:50am 29 – High of 31 today – 8 below tonight

Looks to be 3 inches of wet Snow overnight.  Snow has moved out.  Lake Effect Snow off of Lake Superior on the way.  Moving in around noon.  Forecast for couple more inches.  Then tonight into the freezer with 8 below.  Groomers went out last night to get a step on the SNOW so trails were groomed ahead of the SNOW.  Grooming again tonight & trails should be in good shape.

The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows groomers left the Groomer Barn along Hwy 45N near the Snowmobile Derby Track last night for nearly a full grooming season. Sections NOT groomed are Trail 17S from Trail 7 to Sugar Camp connect, Trail 3 aka Manske Swamp that runs between 10/13 & 17N PLUS Club Trail Uncle Kent that start off Hwy G & connects to Trail 10W north of town. It takes long nights to accomplish this. Give them a thumbs up & remember to pull over to let them by.

Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN. No reports of surface slush.  Stay by the orange reflective barrels.  DO NOT think the entire lake is safe.  Several sleds have gone in the water this season far from the barrels.

Please KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!

Time to ride!  See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – February 11, 2022

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-8″

Date of Report: February 11, 2022

Snowmobile Information:

I just got off duty from the trail dragster. We got smoked with the snow that was predicted, and it was fast and furious as promised. I am guessing 5″, but with the wind earlier it is hard to tell. Trail 17 along 47 was almost dirt, and tonight I had to use the force to find it in the open areas. White out at times. It has moisture in it as the drag had big marshmallows build up. Sled traffic compacted what I worked. Other than the marsh at the north end our our 17, our trails, with some riders help, and another pruning, will be excellent this weekend. Have fun and ride safe.
