Winter Snowmobile and All-Season Trails (As of 12/6/2019)

Snowfalls from the past week have left our area with up to 24″ of snow in many places, however, many trails remain CLOSED to snowmobile traffic at this time until the clubs can get out there and properly groom and prepare the trails for use. The clubs and the Douglas County Forestry Department are actively working on preparing and inspecting trails for safe frozen conditions in wet areas, removal of any deadfalls, and proper signing before opening. PLEASE check the trail you intend to use is open and do not trespass on private property. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open. 

The following all-season trails are currently open to ATV, UTV, and Snowmobiles: 

SW Quadrant 

All trails are closed at this time. 

SE Quadrant

Open trails: 
Wild Rivers Trail (Trail 35) – Groomed
Trails 27B & 27C – Groomed
Trails 41S – Not groomed
Trail 217, 17N – Groomed
Trail 3 (only the Summer trail portion) – Not Groomed

Closed Trails: 
Trail 41 from Highway 53 west to Trail 3
Trail 41 from the Wild Rivers Trail to the Warming Shack

NE Quadrant

Open Trails:
Trail 4 from Hawthorne to Brule (Two routes – At Wild Rivers trail and Bennet Road, and at Trail 6 on a County forest road South of Trail 4 and Trail 6 intersections) – Not Groomed
Trail 6 from Trail 4 to the West of Lake Nebagamon – Not Groomed
Trail 24 from Trail 4 to the Tri-County Corridor – Not Groomed
Trail 1 from Trail 2 (TCC) to County Highway H – Groomed

Cross Country Ski Trails (As of 12/4/2019)

Douglas County Ski Trails – All service roads and parking lots are plowed. Crews have started packing the trails, but they are not ready to be groomed yet. Additional updates will be provided once they are groomed. 

Superior Municipal Forest – All trails north of 42nd Street (Red, Green, Blue, and Millennium) are groomed. Red and Green have been tracked. Inner purple is freshly groomed and packing has started on outer purple. Access to the 42nd parking lot is open. 

Pattison State Park –  No data at this time.

Brule River After Hours Trail –  Groomers have been out all week working on trails. All trails are open except White Pine, Little Joe, and Nebagamon Creek.
