Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – March 7, 2023

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: Dwindling fast
Date of Report: March 7, 2023
Area Report:

We got anywhere from 3-5″ yesterday.  Grooming got better after the temps started dropping and the snow began flowing through the drag as it is supposed to.  The earlier grooming had mixed results as the snow was sticking too heavily in the drag.  End result: there was still some really good riding available last night and into this morning.

Today, we’ve got sunshine and near 40 degrees.  The next two days call for more sun and upper 30s.  This is going to deteriorate conditions quickly.  Any areas with exposed pavement or dirt are going to expand.  You’ll still find some good riding, but may have to search harder for it as the weekend gets closer.

There is a potential for another 1-3″ on Thursday night.  Temps over the weekend are forecasted in the low 30s.  We are nearing the end, so get up here and ride while you can!!

Late season weather has made some of our steeper hills too hazardous for the grooming equipment to navigate, so we have some sections of our system that we’ve stopped grooming.  One of our neighboring clubs nearly rolled one of it’s groomers as it slid off the trail.  At this point in the season, we just aren’t going to risk injury or equipment damage.  So, if you find areas in the Barnstormer’s system that are not getting groomed, that’s why.

Stay safe & enjoy what’s left of the season!!
