The majority of Vilas county trails are closing Thursday, March 26 @ 8:00 AM. The alliance had previously voted to allow individual clubs to stay open at their own discretion. The following clubs have chosen to remain open because there is still decent riding to be found in the woods: Boulder Junction, Land O’ Lakes, Presque Isle, and Sayner.
Staying open a few more days allows some of the die-hard locals to get their final riding done. You may have to ride through some crappy areas to find the good stuff, but if you are willing to do this, go for it! The final mandatory closing date is March 31. Each club will have to determine for themselves whether to hold out till the 31st or not.
Be aware that Star Lake and Plum Lake are no longer marked. Lake riding is not advised.
