SNO-EAGLES
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Trails Good but very icy

While all the trails in Sno-Eagles Country, Eagle River are on average Good.  They are ice based & SNOW covered making them slippery or “fast”.  The SNOW we got was drier & not sticking to the ice. A ton of traffic on the trails all weekend with many large groups of sleds. So by late afternoon there were “blown out” corners that were hard ice.  When riding it is really important to RIDE RIGHT & SLOW DOWN.

SNOW coming today.  Moving in 9am & SNOWING until around 8pm.   Forecast is for around 4 inches.   High today is 28 so it all should be SNOW with no sleet mixed.  Stay tuned.

No riding yesterday.  Will be going out today for a short ride. Like riding when it’s SNOWING. Report tomorrow.

Nearly all trails were groomed last night into this morning.

The only trails that were not groomed are Trail 10E.  Trail 70W from the 13S/7 intersection west to the connect with St. Germain. Short section  of Trail 1 from Chain o’ Lakes Rd to Eagle Lake.  Also reminder that the One-Way Trail 13C upper in the Bauers/Buckatabon area is CLOSED for the rest of the season.

Important info this morning:

  • When you come upon a group of sleds in front of you on the trail.  Passing them can get you in trouble.   Saw several groups met other groups.  The entire group passed the group they come upon.  Not a good idea.  By the time the last sled passes a sled could be coming from the other direction.
  • Remember as you ride & meet a groomer the equipment is NOT able to leave the trail due to it’s weight.  Pull over & stop.  Wait for direction from the driver.  Give ’em a thumbs up.  They groom so we can ride!

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are still marked.  SNOW is moguled in sections so SLOW DOWN. Found this on most marked lakes in Vilas County.
