TRAILS FAIR to GOOD
Fresh SNOW wanted
Heading into a warm up today & tomorrow. 20 degrees at 6:30am with a high of 42 today & 33 tomorrow. Than it will cool down again on Friday. SNOW flurries on Saturday. Best chance of measurable SNOW is Sunday night into Monday! Some pretty good totals in the forecast. Stay tuned! Start Dancin’ Today is Wednesday & time for a Sno-Eagles Guided Trail ride with Ron. Meet at the Historic Railroad Depot on the “grade” trail right in town across from Friendship House at 9am.
Pretty amazing how well the trails are holding up. GOOD out of town. FAIR through town. Ice base if holding pretty well. There is snirt at most road crossings and there is some burn through on the north side of trails along roads & in wide open areas. Can’t stress enough the base is really, really icy everywhere not just in the corners. Please slow down so you can stay on the right side of the trail. High berms in most sharp corners take extra care there. The snow on top of the ice base is thin & fatigued out, meaning SNOW too is icy. Another reason to Start Dancin’
Groomer drivers continue their magic on the trails Trail Boss Brian reports all trails groomed except Trail 1S aka Grampa Grahm Trails.
Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. Right now there are logs in piles along sections of the trail. With the log piles and icy grainy conditions in that section it would be good to slow down. Very icy corners. Minimal grooming due to the logging operation.
Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange easy to see reflective barrels. Please stay by the barrels to be safe. Have not ridden out either lake myself in a while. No surface slush this morning. With the warm temps today & tomorrow surface slush could develop. Reminder that the Catfish Lake Trail that ran from Braywood to Lumpy’s is not open. Please do not trespass on private land.
Celebrate Snowmobiling Snow Show is set for this Sunday, February 18 at the Derby Track Expo Hall. From 11am-4pm. Admission if FREE!
Please Slow Down! Second fatality in Vilas County. We love having you here & want to see you back.
See ya on the trails!
