MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Yesterday, Christmas Eve brought a little Lake Effect Snow. Not much in totals. There about 4 to 5 inches of SNOW. 50% chance of SNOW Sunday, 70% chance of SNOW Wednesday, 40% chance of SNOW Thursday. Pretty far out so let’s see how close the weather guys are. Remember LES is always the surprise SNOW.
Sno-Eagles Trail Boss reports swamps & wet area are freezing up really good. Will wait until there is a solid 5 inches of SNOW to begin panning.
Eagle & Catfish lakes are building ice. Stay off for now until the Sno-Eagles determine both are safe & marked.
All trail inspections in Vilas County have been completed. Many clubs have been out over the last past days panning & packing with groomers. A few clubs are running sleds in the areas that are still wet to pack with. Now we wait. With not much new to report.
A few trail update reminders:
Trail 13 that heads west of Eagle River has a re route in the section that comes out on Oak Lane by the Pine Gables Restaurant. There is new construction going on so the club has done a temporary move over of the trail. Next year the trail will be moved slightly south permanently.
Also the lake spur off of the Eagle Lake Trail that takes you to Eagle Waters Resort is back open!!! The owner Laura Koranda & adjacent landowners worked hard to have this happen!
Eagle River Volunteer Fire Department has been checking ice depths & quality on Silver Lake. If all goes as it is there just might be an ICE CASTLE!
Let’s get a loud SNOW DANCE GOING! Can’t wait to see ya all out on the trails!
THINK SNOW & Merry Christmas!
