Snowmobile Report – February 9, 2023
Ashland County trails are reported in GOOD conditions.   Trails have been groomed and the southern Ashland County area has been experiencing heavy traffic on the trails.  Warm temperatures and sun have softened the base but with cold nighttime temps they are firming up. All trails have plenty of snow and are in good condition.  Logging on 77 west of Clam Lake into Bayfield County, please be cautious.   Enjoy your ride and stay safe!

Snowmobile Information:

lot of Ashland County snowmobile trails are on farmers land, please be respectful so we don’t lose our easement to their property. Snowmobiles may not be modified, or operated, to amplify or otherwise increase the total vehicle noise above the originally manufactured snowmobile noise level.

As always operate with everyone’s safety in mind and report any hazardous trail issues that are observed to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department (715-682-7023 opt 1) so that it can be forwarded to the appropriate service.

The Tri-County Corridor is open from Superior to Ashland. There are still several areas on the eastern end that require attention but all known hazards have been identified and marked. Use caution when approaching ribbons, barricades, and cones.

Important reminders: There is no snowmobiling allowed from Ashland to Bad River/Odanah as snowmobiling is not permitted on reservation land.  However, snowmobiling is allowed from Bad River east to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Fair – Better out of Town

This warm up is softening snow.  In Town trail 10/13 that runs through Town from the Dairy Queen north to Trackside is soft/mushy/wet.  From there soft snow covered heading north. Same for east trails like 10E. Heading west thinner. The ice base underneath was still intact early afternoon yesterday. Thin base in town. Forecast for Cloudy all day.  No evil sun. Time to THINK COLD!! If riding please remember to RIDE RIGHT & SLOW DOWNWith the changing conditions you can get into trouble quickly. Yep START DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!

As for grooming here is last night the Groomer Tracking Systems shows a run through Town on 10/13 in both direction from the groomer barn.  Heading south to just over the recreation bridge.  Heading north to the Trail 17N intersection.

Temps up & down through the rest of the week.  Looks to be a weather pattern coming that should bring SNOW starting Tuesday night.  Stay tuned.

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are marked.  Please stay by the orange reflective barrels. Surface is very hard with moguls. With the warm up surface slush.  SLOW DOWN. Remember not all lakes are safe.

Again, off trail riding is a big problem.  PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL & Take the Snowmobilers Pledge.

Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!

See ya on the trails soon!

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – February 8, 2023

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 8-12″

Date of Report: February 8, 2023

Area Report:

Rating trails as Good due to the warm temps today. Everything got groomed last night even with the tractor going down with a flat tire. There will be no grooming Wednesday night due to the warm temps. Things on the east side seemed to cover well when grooming. And with the warmer temps, the snow on the trails will be soft. So conditions will change fast out there. Corners will get pushed up and revel the ice pack below. We will be watching the forecast closely and adjusting grooming times.

The long range forecast shows a cool down, followed by another warm up. There is longrange reports that the cold will return and we hope that brings more snow with it.

News and Reports:

If you find a condition that you need to report to the Conover Sno-Buddies like a down tree, water on the trail, etc, either message us on Facebook, use the contact page on our website, or even notify a local establishment. They know how to get a hold of us to fix the issue.

  • A reminder to ride between the orange blazers. Along Hwy K West, there were several 100 trees removed this summer to place new electric poles. Most of the stumps are still there. If you were to hit one, it could ruin your trip quickly. Ride Right ➡️ Ride Safe.
  • To see where the Groomer is at, check out  Groomer Tracker  Half the cost of the app comes back to Conover Sno-Buddies to support grooming operations.

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – February 8, 2023

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Good base

Date of Report: February 8, 2023

Area Report:

With the base that was developed with our historical snow, the trails are in great shape. We came through the cold snap in good shape, even without significant snowfall.

The warm-up tentatively forecasted over the next few days could degrade the trails.  We will schedule grooming based on high temperature forecasted.  Hopefully, we can come out in good trail conditions even with the warm-up, but truly we will need to evaluate on a regular basis

Come on out and enjoy the trails.

Stay close to the barrels when crossing lakes.
