Snowmobile Information:

I’ve been on vacation for a week so I was out of the area. Trail boss George reported today that the area Raven Lake has some icy base it’s a little difficult to get the current snow to cover those spots up. Driving home from Trigs, trails that are roads, currently have decent covering. Current forecast is for up to a 10th of an inch of ice, and 2 to 4 inches of snow tomorrow. Lots of wind with gusts in the 30 mph. Temps this week look to be in the low 30s, and mid 20s at night. Some sun. Mark

SNO-EAGLES
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Trails Good to Very Good but icy

While all the trails in Sno-Eagles Country, Eagle River are on average Good to Very Good the are slippery.  They are ice based & SNOW covered making them slippery or “fast”.  The SNOW we got is drier & not sticking to the ice. A ton of traffic on the trails yesterday with many large groups of sleds. So by late afternoon there were “blown out” corners that were hard ice.  When riding it is really important to RIDE RIGHT & SLOW DOWN.

Rode 82 miles yesterday.  Heading out on 10E one way going west to town. Right onto 10W/13N,”the grade” into town.  Met friends & headed north taking 10W/13N to the connect with Conover trail 3N.  3N to Trail 12. Took Trail 12 heading east to Trail 12A to North Twin in Phelps.  Crossed North Twin to Trail 6E.  Took Phelps 6E to Three Lakes Trail 6E connect. Trail 6E to Trail 10W & home.  Well ridden trails with Good to Very Good condition with some very rough moguled areas. Lots of squirrelly slippery sections.  That improved in the Three Lakes trails

Nearly all trails were groomed last night into this morning.

The only trails that were not groomed are Trail 17N. This trail runs from the intersection with 10W/13N heading northeast.  It intersects with 3N aka Manske Swamp which also was not groom.  As 17N continues northeast it connect to Trail 1 that heads to Eagle Lake.  Trail 1 was also not groomed.

Remember as you ride & meet a groomer the equipment is NOT able to leave the trail due to it’s weight.  Pull over & stop.  Wait for direction from the driver.  Give ’em a thumbs up.  They groom so we can ride!

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are still marked.  SNOW is moguled in sections so SLOW DOWN.

Area Report:

So the sleds have packed the trails down and cold weather has helped in packing them down ,groomers were out last night after dark and should be in good condition with some ice on the corners so slow down, also roads will be very icy with a little loose snow on top so be careful. We had a couple inches of snow last night but it was the light stuff and not very good for packing.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Trails Good to Very Good

Light SNOW at 6:28am this morning. 1-2 inches of fluffy Lake Effect SNOW. Still a little falling at 6:41am.To top off the 12 inches plus new SNOW. SNOW off & on all the way through the 10th of March.  At night single digits at night all weekend.  Then teens through the week.   Daytime temps up & down.  SNOW forecast Monday & Wednesday.   Winter is back.

All in all the trails are in Very Good condition.  Lots of traffic again with larger groups. Be sure to RIDE RIGHT.  Hard ice under the SNOW. Snow does not have as much moisture so it’s not sticking to the ice underneath.  Riding again today & will have a full report tomorrow morning.

Lots of work on the trails by the groomers.  Some of the work is being done during the day so be aware & remember to pull over when you meet a groomer.  The drivers will direct you around them. Remember the equipment is heavy & needs to stay on the trail.  Here is grooming, panning & rolling as of this morning:

Nearly ALL trails were groomed.  Only not groomed trails are short section of Trail 17N from where it intersects with Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp heading east to Trail 1 that heads to Eagle Lake.  Club Trail called Uncle Kent trail that comes of of Trail 10W & heads south & runs to Hwy G taking you to Uncle Kent’s Bar.

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are still marked.  Drifting deep SNOW. Very icy under the new SNOW. Surface is very hard thick ice.

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – February 24, 2023

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 10″-12″

Date of Report: February 24, 2023

Area Report:

At 8:35pm, both groomers are out and working the trails. Thank you to all the sleds that packed down the trails to aid in this. With the cold temps tonight, hopefully they will set up nice for Saturday.

Be carfull in corners and steep grades. The snow doesn’t have much moisture to it, and will probably push up in corners revealing the ice base below. Ride Right, Ride Safe.

The trails were in Fair to Good condition today as I rode. For not being groomed in almost 2 weeks, it wasn’t that bad. Saturday should be some excellent early riding. As the traffic increase thru the day, they can become bumpy.

Hopefully we continue to receive more snow to keep the trails fresh and make it into March.

News and Reports:

  • A reminder to ride between the orange blazers. Along Hwy K West, there were several 100 trees removed this summer to place new electric poles. Most of the stumps are still there. If you were to hit one, it could ruin your trip quickly. Ride Right ➡️ Ride Safe.
  • To see where the Groomer is at, check out  Groomer Tracker  Half the cost of the app comes back to Conover Sno-Buddies to support grooming operations.

Snowmobile Information:

Our crew has been out running hard once again with all the new snow. There’s already talk of more on the way Monday, and we’re pinning it all down for more great base, and chasing moguls along the way!
The Holehouse boys are out early this morning helping all of you need less pain relief tonight! Give them a wave, and pass slowly when you see them. The Erickson boys were out all day yesterday processing the snow as it fell, and captured this shot at the Plummer Mine Headframe with a Southern Veteran enjoying this white gold. Thank you to all our service men and women for all they do that allows us to do what we do 😊
Needless to say, trails are EXCELLENT, or better, in this Big Snow Country!! ENJOY a safe ride again today!
