The COLD continues!  Thanks to whoever left the freezer door open!

The ground is freezing down & in good shape.  Air is dry & not much new SNOW.   Most has been Lake Effect (LE).  About 4-5 inches on the ground.  Some was wet & packy but most LE.  You all may now DO THE SNOW DANCE!

The 9 day Deer Gun Season ended at midnight Sunday.   This is followed by a 10 day muzzleloader season followed by a 4 day youth hunt.  So the earliest trails can open is December 16.  Parks & Rec Supervisor has begun trail inspections this morning.  Hopes to get all down ahead so when the hunts are done and the snow flies we are all set.

For Sno-Eagles much of the signing is done & will be completed in the next few days.  There is a re-route of the Trail 3 aka Manske Swamp that is still being worked on.  When all done I will post a map with the trail updates.   Trail 17 aka Hiawatha Trail has be rehab-ed.  No more going in that wet mushy section just before Kick Back & Hiawatha motel.

Reminder – It’s time to renew your membership and purchase your discounted Trail Pass from the AWSC.  Sno-Eagles  AWSC Click on these links to do both

Snow Cover: 5″

Date of Report: November 30, 2024

Snowmobile Information:

Happy Thanksgiving +1. As I write this, it is a balmy 17 degrees in the north woods. OK, we have a pretty good shot out of the tee box so far. I would say I have about five inches of snow on the deck, and a winter weather advisory of a possible couple more inches by noon. Hornshoe trails are in great shape. Another thank you to Lac Du Flambeau tribe for the amazing work on our system. Raven Lake area is wide open. Trail1 from East Boundary to the trail 5 intersection with Cruisers is also wide open. Note that there is a reroute to our club trail at Crawlingstone Lake. It ends there now. We have also opened up the trail along highway 70 from Crickets to County Line Gas station. We are looking for volunteers tomorrow, Saturday, November 30, for the final shave and a haircut before we snap too for inspection. We will be brushing and signing. Meeting at our barn on highway H at the transfer station 0900. It takes a lot of work to make trails happen. If you do not belong to a club, consider joining one. I belong to five, and I am active in two. I also sold Christmas trees for Forest Riders last year. The old saying, “take two, they are small”, I got kind of carried away. You should see me drink beer. Hah! Stay tuned. Mark

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Opening day is this Sunday and hoping that everyone is getting excited??   We have about 1-2″ of snow on the ground, but coupled with below freezing temp’s – thing’s are freezing up pretty tight.

We’re still a little gun shy from last season about sharing potential snow.  However, we are under a Winter advisory with the potential for a good storm system impacting us over the next several days. 🤞If we get 10″to 12″ we will start setting and packing trails.

The Bridge on 13s has been repaired and that trail will be open. We will update if conditions change and Bully’s start to turn track’s!

Think snow ❄️❄️❄️

Winter has arrived in Eagle River!

3-4 inches of wet packy SNOW.   Ground isn’t frozen yet so some of it melted before it started to stick.  The best news is the temps have really dropped.  For the next 2 weeks the night time temps will be in the low to mid teens every night.  During the day with the exception of tomorrow day time highs will be in mid to low 20’s, so the ground will be freezing up.

In the meantime Clubs through Vilas County are prepping for the upcoming season!  The 9 Gun Deer season ends December 1.  Then there is a 10 day muzzleloader season followed by a 4 day youth hunt.  So the earliest trails can open is December 16.  Parks & Rec Supervisor will begin trail inspection some time after December 2nd.  Hopefully by sled, but might be by truck or UTV.

As for Sno-Eagles, still working on:

      Verifying trail easements
Working on re routes – seems to be a lot of those in recent seasons
      Brushing & limbing branches
      Signing
      Working on grooming equipment

Reminder – It’s time to renew your membership and purchase your discounted Trail Pass from the AWSC.  Sno-Eagles  AWSC Click on these links to do both

Keep THINKING COLD.  Next week start DOIN’ A SNOW DANCE!

Won’t be long now!   See ya the trails in mid-December!!
