Trail Closure Announcement

The Mercer Area Sno-Goers trail system will close on Wednesday 2/26/2025 at 8:00 AM until further notice.

What an incredible season it has been! From the first ride of the year to the countless memories made on the trails, we are so grateful for everyone who came out to enjoy and support our system. A huge thank you goes to our dedicated volunteers, landowners, and sponsors who make this all possible.

Unfortunately, the warm weather has taken a toll on the trails, making it necessary to close them for now. However, if we receive enough snow and conditions improve, there is still a possibility of reopening. We will continue to monitor the weather and provide updates as they come.

Thank you all for a fantastic season—fingers crossed for more snow!

President, Mercer Area Sno-Goers

Trail Report – : Hurley, Wisconsin – February 25, 2025

Reporter:hurley@hurleywi.com

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 3-4″

Date of Report: February 25, 2025

Snowmobile Information:

After 2 full days of the temperature around 50*, and nights well above freezing with light rain, our trail system took a beating.  You will find full coverage in the shaded areas of our wooded trails, but getting there is getting more challenging each day.  Unlike a “normal” season around Hurley, WI, we just haven’t had the snows to create the massive base to withstand these warm-ups. We are still open, but this system has bee downgraded to poor at this time.  We can hope for more cold and snow with over a month left of our possible Wisconsin Winter season, but it’s really up to Mother Nature now. Thank you to everyone at White Thunder Riders and their supporters as we struggle through this early breakup.  Please watch for changing conditions if you still choose to ride, and stay on the trail right-of-ways.

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – February 24, 2025

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: Thin

Date of Report: February 24, 2025

Area Report:

The evil sun was out today. It has done its damage on the trails in the sun. Most trails are going to be down to the frozen base so it is extremely icy. We have to close Trail 8 between Muskrat Creek Rd TIN 722 to US 45 TIN 742 on the old RR grade/bike path due to the lack of snow in a section that is out in open sun.

Sno-Eagles in Eagle River has also posted that they are halting grooming and asking for snowmobiles to refrain from using their trails until it gets cold again and we get some much needed snow.

News and Reports:

Trail 8 between Muskrat Creek Rd TIN 722 and US 45 TIN 742 on the grade/bike trail is CLOSED due to lack of snow. We don’t want to damage the bike trail and have to repair it.

Trail 12 from the RR grade TIN 732 to County K TIN 731 has ruts from ATVs. There isn’t enough snow to fill the ruts. We put signs at each end of the trail for Caution Next 1 mile and Rough Trail. Use caution when traveling this area.

The Cemetery Trail from TIN 724 to TIN 725, and south to TIN 727 at Church Rd is thin for snow cover. You will find a few bare spots, There is a hill between TIN 725 and TIN 726 at Lindberg Rd that was bare from sleds going up it. The swamp area did freeze up, so it is good to go.

Trail Report – : Iron County, Michigan – February 24, 2025

Reporter:Colleen

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 6 – 10 inches

Date of Report: February 24, 2025

Area Report:

New update on our trail system… groomers have been temporarily pulled until we receive additional snow and cooler temps. The warm weather and sunshine the past 2 days has really taken a toll on our trails. Northern trails may be rideable but southern and eastern trails trails are in tough shape. Trail #2 is also currently in poor condition.

We will update conditions as soon as they change.

Ski Brule – Ski Hill is in great condition with events every weekend

Snowmobile Information:

It’s been another tough winter.. hoping we get some colder temps with lots of snow in March.

As always, a “BIG” thank you goes out to our snowmobile clubs, members, groomer operators and mechanics.  Without them we wouldn’t have the nice groomed flat trails to ride on each year.

We also want to “Thank” all you wonderful snowmobilers that did make it up.. tried to make it up and still hope to make it up riding. All the business owners in Iron County “TRULY” appreciate you & your business and hope you will continue to come up riding each year.  🙂
