Gogebic Area Grooming

The Lake Gogebic Area has received 12+” of snow and it’s still snowing!  Forecast calls for a high of 14 F and a low of 1F.   What a difference a couple of days makes – it’s like snowmaggedon around here.   Gogebic Area Groomers reported that anything that was lost with our last warmup has been regained.

Last  night they sent 2 machines down 8w to Wakefield – one with a drag and one without.  All snow bridges remained intact and groomable and rideable.

The Marenisco crew reported that the warm weather this past week took a pretty good toll on the trails and left a slushy wet irregular mess. Crews have been out tonight trying to clean it all up and flatten it out.   On the positive note, we’ve received quite a bit more snow than originally predicted and most of Trail 1 is still in pretty good shape. There are some wet spots that popped through but not too many. It’s thin heading south out of Marenisco but they were able to smooth the grade and bridges out pretty well.

Heading north out of Marenisco, Trail 1 is thin along M64 but once past that, it’s still in great shape all the way to M 28.    While we received about 6”-8” of snow which will help greatly but it will take a couple of groomer passes to get it back in ideal condition. The season isn’t over yet folks but use “early season” caution right now!

Be safe, ride right and we’ll see you soon!

Sno-Eagles
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Trails remain open until Sunday 3/2/2025 at noon
Temporary Close until more SNOW
Currently Poor to Fair

Sno-Eagles  groomers where out last night panning & checking north of town trails for downed trees after the high winds all day yesterday. Trail 13N, 17N, 1, 10W, 7, 3 were panned & inspected.  If you are riding today expect Poor to Fair.  Corners are very, very icy so SLOW DOWN to be safe.  Lots of rough frozen ice with maybe 1/2 to 1 inch of new SNOW. Way beyond Adventure Sledding.

Today the groomers will be out panning & inspecting 10E, 70W, 17S & 7 aka Paintball Field off 17S. So if you ride today, Saturday use extra caution.  There were riders that crossed my driveway yesterday head west into town on the one way of 10E.  Rough & washboardy, lots of bare areas from the high sun.

Reminder that Trails throughout Vilas County will close at 12 noon tomorrow, Sunday, 3/2/2025.  This is a temporary close.  What this means should there be enough SNOW to ride safely the trails will re open.

Going to take an intense SNOW DANCE to get them open!

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: RIP

Date of Report: February 27, 2025

Snowmobile Information:

Todd from Vilas County put out the word that Vilas county trails will temporarily close March 2. Groomer Matt took a tour of our trails last Thursday, and it was pretty much a struggle in the open areas, with fairly decent snow in the woods. We groomed Saturday night, then did a stand down. With the warm-up over the weekend, we’ve gone pretty much marginal on the whole grid. A big shout out to all of the Vilas County groomer teams, that made some amazing trails, out of minimal snow that had minimal moisture. Will advise if the snow returns. Mark
