Get out and ride! Our trails are currently fair to good. The people that are up riding are pleasantly surprised, talked to a group yesterday that had put on 500 miles over the last few days. Watch the corners, they are getting icy. Also exposed areas and road crossings are getting snirty and thin.

Stop by the Winter Rendezvous on Rest Lake this Saturday. Many great raffle prizes, children’s activities, food, live music and a chance to win a 2017 Skidoo Renegade.

Trail Report: Forest County, Wisconsin – February 16, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6-10 inches

Date of Report: February 16, 2017

Area Report:

Trails are still in GOOD condition.  A little icy in the corners, road trails might become a little bare, but there is plenty of snow to ride. Trails are at their prime right now. This is going to be a very busy weekend, get up early and ride.  With the forecasted temperatures, anticipate trail conditions to change through the weekend.

Trail conditions will vary throughout the county so please ride safely and responsibly.  Use caution when riding on lakes or frozen water as ice conditions can vary greatly.

The clubs that maintain the Forest County Trail System are made up of volunteers who work very hard to provide the best trails possible.  Please respect them while on the trail and allow them to do their job. If you come across the groomer, please give them some extra room.  It is a lot easier to move a sled off the trail than 40 feet of tractor and drag.

Remember, TRAILS ARE GROOMED DAY AND NIGHT.

Thank you for riding Forest County Trails, Snowmobiling’s best kept secret.

Trails In Fair Condition
Icy – Need Snow

Very short report this morning. 16 degrees at 8:47am with a high of 30 today.  Trails absolutely are in need of snow.  Plus the temps have to drop.

Trail Boss Brian reports grooming halted.

Trails are icy everywhere so if you are riding slow down.  In the woods under cover there is good riding. There is blow out in corners.  Trails along roads such as 10E have burn through on the trails. A lot of the road routes do not have much snow on them.  In town a lot of snirt.

Both Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trail are safe by the orange reflective barrels. No surface slush this morning.  This may change.

Reminder that from dusk to dawn the Statewide speed limit is 55MPH even on the lakes.

Keep Doin’ The Snow Dance! And For Heavens Sake…THINK COLD!

February 15th, 2017

With single digit temps today reports are saying that trails are looking pretty good at this point and that we should have some decent riding for the next few days.

Conditions are forecasted to be poor to good beginning on Sunday.    We rode the lake last night down to the Gogebic Lodge and then took Trail 1 back North and it was great.   Trails 102, 1 North and 13 North are looking very good.   8 East is good to Ewen – then gets thin and rocky.

With the exception of Friday, Sunday & Monday the predicted temps look cold enough to groom at night.     Wednesday & Thursday temps look good for daytime as well as nighttime grooming.   Groomers are hoping to the trails in decent shape to last through the next warmup.   Temps look to drop to winter temps by Wednesday of next week.

That said; expect wet holes to reopen, again, over much of our trail system this weekend.

Forecast is calling for snow every day from February 25th into the beginning of March – so don’t give up on this season yet!  We are hoping for some more of the season as we have a few rides we want to get in as well!

Thanks very much for everyone!
