Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 3 inch hard base plenty of snow on top

Date of Report: January 15, 2018

Area Report:

ALL SNOWMOBILE TRAILS ARE OPEN
GOOD CONDITION

Lots of sledding traffic this weekend! Even with that the trails are in terrific shape!   SNOW started later last night.  About 1 or 2 inches on the ground this morning.  SNOW showers off and on all day today.  So I’m thinking 3 or 4 inches new SNOW when all is said & done.  Have moved the traffic to GOOD Condition.  No more Early Riding.  Today it is going to be 20 so riding will be great!

Grooming overnight included trails 10W, 13N, 7, 70W, Kathan Inn & Paintball trails which are off Trail 17S, 10E was groomed to the one way section.  From there only the side heading east (south side of the road) was groomed out to Anvil Lake area.  Look fantabulous!

Here are some trail reminders:

  • Trail 1N has a logging operation in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake.  Clearly marked with signs.
  • Wisconsin River Trail – 10W/13N  There are rough spots but it is frozen tight.
  • Same for Manske Swamp – 3N.  Just like Wisconsin River Trail there are rough spots but it is frozen tight.

Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails are now both marked and officially open.  Please stay by the barrels to be safe.  Very hard surface.  No slush.  Reminder the Catfish Lake Loop to Lumpy’s is NO LONGER a trail.

If you are riding zip on over to the “grade” to check out the 2018 Eagle River Area Fire Department ICE CASTLE!!!!  Located adjacent to the downtown “grade” trail by the Historic Railroad Grade.  The lights installed change colors.  Check out this link Eagle River Ice Castle to check out more photos.  Darn pretty!

This morning at the Derby Track is the annual Military Snowmobile Ride.  AWSC way of saying thank to all who have given to us.  Congratulations to Justin Ernst from Rhinelander, WI on his Vintage Championship win! Thursday begins the World Championship Derby.  For more information check out DerbyTrack.com

Traffic is very high so please stay on the right side to stay safe!  There can be some hard icy in the corners so slow down.  Again it’s going to be 20 my lunch time.  So boy howdy get out there & ride!

Keep Dancin’!

See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – January 15, 2018

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 3-5″ hard base – loose fresh snow

Date of Report: January 15, 2018

Area Report:

The wet, heavy snow from last week did wonders for the trail base. The trails have a firm base, and now have some fresh snow from today (Monday). The trails held up well this weekend with the cold weather.
The majority of the trails are in good and flat shape. There are still a few “holes” that we need more snow to even out.
Pleasantly surprised at the good conditions that are out there.
No excuses…get out and enjoy the trails.
There is talk of a little warm-up this weekend and a chance for more snow.
Become active in a local snowmobile club. They can use the support. It takes a lot of work to maintain the World Class Trail Conditions (brushing, signing, grooming, land use agreements, marking lakes, etc..)

Trail Report – : Sugar Camp, Wisconsin – January 12, 2018

Reporter:Matt Winters

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 4″-6″

Date of Report: January 12, 2018

Area Report:

The recent few inches of snow we got have helped getting the trails in good riding conditions. It was excellent panning snow to fill everything in especially in swampy and low lying areas but may still be rough in areas. All lakes are safe to cross and marked with orange be barrels. Maintain reasonable speeds while crossing lakes as drifting is occurring from windy conditions and stay close to barrels while crossing. Remember to purchase your annual trail pass before riding the trails and support local clubs and businesses. Remember that all intersections are indicated with a 3 digit number for your safety in case of emergency to pinpoint your location for emergency personnel for the quickest route to your location.
