Trail Report – : Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin – March 1, 2018

Reporter:Manitowish Waters Chamber

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 16-22 inches

Date of Report: March 1, 2018

Area Report:

We got an inch of snow or so last night, hard to believe that little bit really helped.  Our groomer was out early this morning and said the trails look pretty good. Overall I would call our trails fair, with some areas being good.  Get out there and enjoy the ride!

News and Reports:

A huge thank you to all who attended the Winterfest Rendezvous and those who purchased tickets on our Arctic Cat Raffle.  Congratulations to winner Dave Mueller!  Dave is a club member and helps out at Our Duck Race!
Thank you to all of our volunteers that made our event a huge success! Some of these guys took 2 days off of work to help set the tent and organize everything.  This is a lot of work, but so rewarding to know that it went so well! Proceeds from the Winterfest and raffles go towards trail maintenance!
I am proud of how everyone pitched in to make this such a great event: from the people and businesses who donated raffle items, to those who attended and purchased raffle tickets and especially the volunteers! We look forward to next years events!

The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters maintain an active grooming schedule for the area’s trail system. Coordinated efforts with the surrounding communities provide continuous smoothly-groomed trails in this northwest sector. The Sno-Skeeters own and operate some of the newest grooming equipment on the market today. Trail Report – : Eagle River, Wisconsin – March 1, 2018

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: Ice base – 3 inches new snow

Date of Report: March 1, 2018

Area Report:

March 1, 2018 – 11:39am

VILAS COUNTY TRAILS OPEN
Snowmobile Trails Can Remain Open Until Midnight March 31st
Conditions permitting

Well a little drop in temperatures in Sno-Eagles Country.  24 this morning with a high of 37.  SNOW is falling 6 miles east of Eagle River.  Weather guys forecasted around an inch & we have about 3 so far.  And it will be overcast all day today.  Going in the right direction!

Trails that were in Good or even better conditions have down graded to FAIR in many areas.  In town trails are POOR.  What was very mushy & water is frozen at this point this morning. So conditions are really icy. Road trails for the most part have no snow on them.  Especially those running north & south.  Moving out of town conditions improve but it is a struggle to get to them without a bit of adventure sledding.  In woods trails particularly way out east, north & southwest are FAIR with even some areas of GOOD but this is getting far & few between. Trailering & dropping off to ride might be good.

There will be grooming when the temperatures dictate.  Stay tuned.

Wednesday & Thursday Sno-Eagles Guided Trail rides have been canceled for now.

The section of the Chanticleer Inn Trail off of Trail 10E that takes riders to Eagle is mushy & wet at the entrance heading to the lake.  Trail Boss is monitoring that area and will close if conditions continue.

Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. With the log piles and icy grainy conditions in that section it would be good to slow down. Minimal grooming due to the logging operation.

Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange easy to see reflective barrels.  Please stay by the barrels to be safe.  Reminder that the Catfish Lake Trail that ran from Braywood to Lumpy’s is not open.  Please do not trespass on private land.

Keep Doin’ the SNOW Dance it seems to be working!  THINK COLD!!

See ya on the trails again real soon!
