Trail Report – : Watersmeet, Michigan – December 27, 2018

Reporter:Chamber

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 3-5 inches

Date of Report: December 27, 2018

Area Report:

Weather predictions of up to 12″ of snow have fallen quite short of expectations.  On top of that, we are getting rain/snow mix today with temps in the mid 30’s.  They claim the storm isn’t over yet and to remain hopeful for snow overnight.  Temps are expected to cool which will help give us a decent base if we can get some snow on top of what we have now.  U.P Thunder Riders Snowmobile Groomers have not been out as there isn’t enough snow currently.  If you do go out, expect pre-season conditions.

We will be marking the rest today. Stay by the stakes, the flowage has dropped 2 feet since  it froze over [STUMPS]  Will let you know when it’s done

As of December 27, we received approximately 3 inches of heavy wet snow overnight. With temperatures forecast to be in the mid-thirties today and tonight, rain and mixed precipitation is forecast. This may melt some of the snow that we received. Due to low snow cover, snowmobile trails are unrideable. The Flambeau Trail System and the Georgetown Trail are open to ATV and UTV riders.

Trails are closed!

The “big storm” is here and dropped a couple inches over night. Not enough to open at this time. We will see what we get in the next 24 hours. Just a reminder, we open as a county, so that means the other 9 clubs in the county have to be ready also.

Fines are big, stay off the closed trails.
