Ashland County Snowmobile Report February 14, 2019
We asked for it and we got it…SNOW!  Trails in Ashland County are open and  grooming is in process.  Trails are in very good condition.  The trail from Marengo north to the East end of Ashland, is closed, however there is a detour route in place that is marked.  The Tri-County Corridor is OPEN and has been groomed!

This weekend events:

Registration 11am, race at 12noon, Chinese auction starts at 12noon, and drawing at 3pm. Get a chance to win Las Vegas Package, casino getaways, and gift certificates! As always please follow the snowmobile trail rules and regulations. Stay on trail, as much of the Ashland County snowmobile trail system uses private property and could be lost if the property owners experiences issues. The most common complaints are snowmobiles not staying on trails or going off into fields that are not part of the trail, and loud noise from non-stock muffler systems. Respect the trail system so that it remains open. As always operate with everyone’s safety in mind and report any hazardous trail issues that are observed to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department (715-682-7023 opt 1) so that it can be forwarded to the appropriate service.

The Tri-County Corridor is open from Superior to Ashland. There are still several areas on the eastern end that require attention but all known hazards have been identified and marked. Use caution when approaching ribbons, barricades, and cones.

With the over 2 feet of snow we have had in the last 8 days it is easy to write this report. All trails will be groomed by the end of the day on Friday and will be in good condition. The groomer is out every day working to make the trails better. The groomer got stuck on trail 189 Tuesday night and there will be a rough spot in that area until we groom it a few more times so use caution on this trail. We need riders to help pack the snow down so get out and enjoy our trail system and all the new snow. As always ride safe and have fun. Thanks, Prentice Bush Benders snowmobile club.

SNO-EAGLES TRAILS OPEN!
Trails Very Good to Excellent

February 14 2019 5:40am – 20 – High 29

Groomers are working to get the trails in shape after the big SNOW.  Last night looks like Trails 10E with the exception of 9 mile, 17N & 1N were groomed.

On the trails expect to run into hanging branches.  Many were ice covered & with new SNOW there will be areas that could be hard to get through.  With crews out plowing roads there will still be banks at the road crossings.  So take it slow & please stop at the road & driveway crossings.  Banks are high & hard to see if vehicles are coming.

There is some SNOW in the forecast for later today.  Temps coming up.  Thursday 29.  Friday 17. Saturday 22. Forecast for single digits at night maybe a 1 or 2 below. The 29 today will cause the SNOW on top of the base to get soft.  With hard ice underneath can be squirrelly.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  There was wind Sunday evening so there could be some moguls.  Be safe & slow down.

Been mentioning this all season:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

On a sledding trip today in Florence.  Left Tuesday in the SNOw.  Yesterday into the UP & then back to Florence.  Heading home today.  Report on the ride when I get home!

Thanks for THINKING SNOW!!!  Are you riding?  If not why?

See ya on the trails!

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 20-25”

Date of Report: February 14, 2019

Area Report:

Here are your current conditions
Another 12-15” of snow has fallen this week. We have not seen this much snow in a long time. No better time to ride then now. Lakes might start to get slushy, so the throttle is your friend. If you feel slush, hammer down. You may encounter a icy corner. Everything is in excellent shape. Watch out for low hanging branches. All trails are being groomed 4-5 times a week.

Please, slow down and limit your drinking. Way too many fatalities in northern Wisconsin, and they all can be prevented.

Lakes are all marked. Remember, stay as close to the barrels as possible. If you don’t see barrels, assume they are not safe.

Please respect our private landowners and stay on the trail. We have had a couple issues this year already and it always puts our trails in danger.

Use caution at all road crossing as they are icy.

Check our Facebook page for information about the new hoodies and T-shirt’s we have for sale.

Well we finally got 6+ inches of snow over night with 8+ more predicted for Thursday. Last weekend our trails held up really well from snowmobile traffic so our base is still there. The melt on Sunday really hurt the open areas but with the new snow these are not an issue any more. There may be some over flow from the melt on Sunday so ride safely. We will be grooming all week and should have all trails groomed by the weekend. The trails should all be in good condition by the weekend. Ride safe and have fun.
