SNO-EAGLES TRAILS OPEN!
Trails Very Good to Excellent

February 15 2019 6:59am – 2 – High 19

If you aren’t riding why not?  The trails in Eagle River are fantastic!

Groomers were out last night & groomed 10E except 9 mile trail, 70W, 7S, 17S, 13 through town & north, 10/13 aka Wisconsin River trail, 7N & 3N aka Manske Swamp.  The rest of the trails were groomed Wednesday night except 9 mile.

Rode over the last 3 days in Eagle River & trails far east, north & south. On the trails expect to run into hanging branches.  Many were ice covered & with new SNOW there will be areas that could be hard to get through.  Plus may find branches & small limbs along the trails. Some of the road crossings have high banks.  So take it slow & please stop at the road & driveway crossings.  Banks are high & hard to see if vehicles are coming. Beside this found no other problems.  Not even any icy blow out on the trails.

Temps are back down again so the SNOW isn’t going anywhere.  No SNOW in forecast until next Wednesday.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  There was wind Sunday evening so there could be some moguls.  Be safe & slow down.

Been mentioning this all season:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

Left for a group trip on Tuesday in the heavy snow.   Headed out on 10E to Three Lakes trails to 6E heading to Forest County to Forest County.  Staying in Florence.  Deep snow all the way. Tons of ice & snow on the trees. Some ducking & rerouting around some of the really low hanging trees & branches.  Wednesday rode into Michigan & back to Florence.  Some of the trails were groomed.  Most not. Snow way deep.  Headed home Thursday.  Over to Caspian,MI then headed south to Alvin,WI connecting with 10W,  From there rode back pretty much the same way we came on Tuesday. Everything was groomed.  The trails were EXCELLENT for the most part. Bit of bumps east Forest into Florence on a short section & that was it.

Thanks for THINKING SNOW!!!  Are you riding?  If not why?
See ya on the trails!

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 15+” on the ground

Date of Report: February 15, 2019

Area Report:

There is plenty of fresh snow out there. We received another 15+” of snow this week!  The groomers have been out in full force trying to get them packed down and smooth.  This was a light and fluffy snow, so it is taking some work to build the recent snow into the base.  The trails should be in the best conditions we have seen is some time.  With the deep snow base, there will be opportunities to show some bumps after heavy use during the day.  The groomers will be out nightly putting them back into shape.

The lakse have a bunch of snow on them, and could be seeing some slushy areas.  The heavy snow has limited movement on the lakes by the fisherman.  Boom Lake and Lake George have numerous roads plowed across them, be cautious when traveling on these lakes for snow piles and banks.

The bypass trail (along hwy 8) won’t be groomed until Tuesday, February 19th due to a problem with the drag.  The sidehills on the bypass trail may cause further damage until the part is received on Monday.  The bypass trail doesn’t see a ton of traffic, so it shouldn’t get too moguled up.

Ride safe out there, lets have everyone ride to live another day.

Area Report:

Last week we received in the neighborhood of 16+ inches of snow…this week another 10 to 12 inches!  It is snowing again now…so far another 3+ inches!  Trails are fabulous, only because our dedicated groomer guys have been out day and night getting ready for you all to enjoy these beautiful trails.  With this much snow, it takes several groomings to get everything in shape for good riding.  You will see them out all weekend as well.

Great riding throughout the entire trail.  I will rate them as excellent.

Be aware of your surroundings…with this much snow, you will find slushy spots on the lakes.  Please respect our landowners…stay on the marked trail.

Also, again, thank you for supporting the businesses that support the snowmobile club.  Without these businesses, we would not have a trail.

Remember to stop by the Crooked Lake Fish-O-Rama this Saturday.  Hoping I will see you there!
