Snowmobile report

Overall condition are very good. We have more snow in the forecast for tomorrow. They are calling for 1-3 during the day and 3-6 at night. We will give you an update on Thursday. Temps for the next will be in the 20’s and lows in the teens. Perfect riding weather. Come up and enjoy the great trails.

THE GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY reports on 2/15/19 grooming is ongoing. If you see a groomer please pull over and let them pass.

Trail 2 from Hurley to Ramsay Crossing is very good was last groomed 2/14/19. Please do not ride on sidewalks near Holiday and try to keep the noise down in town.

Trail 2 from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield is good was last groomed 2/14/19. PLEASE REMEBER TO CROSS US HWY 2 IN THE CORRECT LANE OF TRAVEL, DO NOT BLOCK HWY TURN LANES!

Wakefield to Marenisco is very good was lasted groomed 2/12/19. This trail is a mix of twisty but wide forest roads (13mi) and 12mi of rail bed to Marenisco. This beautiful trail is 12 miles of unplowed wide logging roads that wind their way through the Gogebic Range Hills before running 10 miles of rail-trail to Marenisco. PLEASE STOP AT ALL STOP SIGNS ON THE RAIL TRAIL! There is a significant logging presence on FR-8100 with dozens of log trucks hauling out daily. Last week an accident occurred with a log truck. Stop at the stop signs!!

Trail 8 from Bingos to Tula Crossing is very good and groomed daily. Bingo’s is closed and has no gas….

Trail 160 from Walmart to Montreal River (WI) is very good last groomed 2/10/19. This is their most scenic trail and a treat to ride! Stay on the trail in the farm fields. Over 25 landowners are involved to make this trail a reality, please respect them and ride responsibly.

Trail 11S is in very good condition it was last groomed 2/12/19. It is groomed all the way to the WI line. This 17 mile long trail has 2 stop signs and is a wilderness tour. The southern 3 miles get thinner, but remains in good condition.

Trail 11 N is closed indefinitely.

THE GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS report from 2/12/19. Groomers were out last night and report that all trails are in good to very good condition.

Trail 1N to White Pine: very good condition. Groomed last night.

Trail 8 East:-very good condition.

Trail 8 West just groomed and in very good condition.

Trail 102-Good to very Good

Trail 13n-Good to very Good. Groomed last night.

Trail 13S from Root Cellar to Trail 2 – very good condition.

Trail 1 South ¨conditions are very good ¨It was groomed last night.

Some friendly reminders:

KNOW before you GO. Take a couple extra minutes before you head out to check a map and plan out the day.

Stop at all stop signs ¨completely stop at all stop signs. Look left-right-left.

Please remember to ride RIGHT and ride TOGETHER

Taking into account the above consider that the snow we are currently getting is fluffy and creates a large powder cloud, so allow extra space between riders due to reduced visibility.

WATERSMEET WHITE THUNDER RIDERS reports 2/18/19:

We are grooming daily. Trails are very good condition, lots of snow!!

Trail 2 West of Watersmeet – Very good with the exception of the wet area 25 miles west of Watersmeet on trail 2. Please use caution.

Trail 2 East of Watersmeet- Very good condition

Trail 13 South to Cisco Chain-Very Good

Trail 3 south to Land O’Lakes- Very good condition. There is lots of traffic on this trail 100’s of sleds are passing the groomer. It’s very hard to keep smooth, use caution on bridge approaches

Trail 3 north to Paulding/Bond Falls/Bruce Crossing- Very Good

Trails are in great shape . Took a little rebuilding from the heavy traffic this president’s day weekend but we got them fixed up . We still have some logging going on 45 and 8 north and on 45-13 south . When you see the large orange signs please slow down you dont want to run into a piece of machinery or log truck they will win every time. Sounds like we have some more snow coming in the middle of the week to freshen everything up so come get your riding on and remember ride right and ride safe .

Ashland County Snowmobile Report February 19, 2019
Trails in Ashland County are open and grooming is in process every day. Trails are in very good condition. The trail from Marengo north to the East end of Ashland, is closed, however there is a detour route in place that is marked. The Tri-County Corridor is OPEN and has been groomed!

As always please follow the snowmobile trail rules and regulations. Stay on trail, as much of the Ashland County snowmobile trail system uses private property and could be lost if the property owners experiences issues. The most common complaints are snowmobiles not staying on trails or going off into fields that are not part of the trail, and loud noise from non-stock muffler systems. Respect the trail system so that it remains open. As always operate with everyone’s safety in mind and report any hazardous trail issues that are observed to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department (715-682-7023 opt 1) so that it can be forwarded to the appropriate service.

The Tri-County Corridor is open from Superior to Ashland. There are still several areas on the eastern end that require attention but all known hazards have been identified and marked. Use caution when approaching ribbons, barricades, and cones.

The trails took a BEATING during the President’s Day Weekend but all reports are what a difference a day makes! All trails have been groomed twice and are again in excellent shape. Lakes have firmed up with the -18 temps the past couple of mornings. Stay by the barrels and ride safe. Looks like a fantastic weekend to Ride in Land O Lakes as traffic should be down significantly.

Cross Country Cruisers Trail Report 2-14-19

Well it looks like Mother Nature is making up for our disappointing snowfall in December and January.

We received anywhere from 14 to 17 inches of new snow on Tuesday`s snow storm.

This has transformed the Northwoods into a winter wonderland!

The Cross Country Cruisers and area clubs are loving it and this should take us into the early part of March for some good riding.

Trails 3, 5, 6 , 10, 11, 17 and 51 are very good to excellent, trail 47 and trail 70/10 in town are good.

Please be careful at intersections in town for the snow banks from road and parking lot plowing have become quite high and can block some visibility.

The upcoming weekend is a three day weekend for many. We anticipate it to be a busy one.

Slo`s Pub has a radar run as does Bents Camp.

The snow conditions are the best we have seen this year or even in a couple years.

Let`s all use some extra caution and be aware of other riders out there!

Please stay to the right and pay attention to the trail signage! It is going to be an awesome weekend let`s all help make it a safe one!

SNO-EAGLES TRAILS OPEN!

February 19 2019 6:15am – 10 below – High 22

Still plenty of SNOW in Eagle River. Groomer drivers were out last night grooming & working on any problem areas from the heavy traffic over the past weekend. Most trails north, northeast, northwest & west were groomed last night.

Volunteers were out again clearing up more branch & tree fall on the trails over the last couple days. Most of the road crossings have very high banks. So take it slow & please stop at the road & driveway crossings. Work will start on digging out trail signs that have gotten buried & replacing those that have been knocked over or are missing. Noticed some on buried signs 10E & 70W. Again take it slow.

The evil sun softens up the SNOW during the day & crusting it up as the temps drop. With the ice base underneath it can make riding squirrely. Might even dart around a little. Some of that on the northside of 10E the one way headed west back to Eagle River. There are areas with chop & even some areas with moguls. Also saw some blow out starting in some corners. Grooming will take care of most of this.

Next SNOW is forecast for Wednesday with some of the weather guys forecasting 3-5 inches. Others 1-3 inches. Looks like SNOW for next weekend too. But it is early & we all know the weather guys do not always get it right. So stay tuned.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels. There was wind Sunday evening so there could be some moguls. Be safe & slow down.

Been mentioning this all season:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails. 10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart. The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area. Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs. Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

Remember mid week riding is the best! Time to ride!

All Clark County Snowmobile Trails are OPEN. N-G-T trails are currently rated in GOOD condition with with plenty of base on the trails. Always remember to respect the trail system and remain on the trail, to avoid trail closures.

Snowmobile Information:

Our club has been active for 30 years now. We started out as a small club in 1988 named The Neillsville Rec Riders, designing ATV routes that accessed the Clark County Forest Trail System, via roads. We then created our first cross county un-groomed snowmobile and winter ATV trail system from Neillsville to Granton. In 1993 we purchased a used Bombardier groomer to start grooming our trail for snowmobiling. In 1996 we expanded our snowmobile and winter ATV trail system from Neillsville to the Clark County Forest Trail near Hatfield.

In 1997 we added a tractor and new drag to our grooming fleet to keep up with the grooming schedule. In 1999 we further expanded our growing trail system with a snowmobile trail running from Granton to Sherwood. In 2001 we made a big achievement in trail devolpement by creating a snowmobile trail from Neillsville to Loyal, giving us a total of 56 miles in groomed snowmobile trails across private lands. In 2002 we had to add a second tractor and drag to keep up with the high grooming demand. After receiving heavy, drifting snows during the ’06-’08 seasons while continuing to get stuck with our tractors, we felt the need to add a newer tracked groomer to our fleet.

We purchased a Piston Bully trailer groomer to keep up with the demanding trail grooming where our tractors fell short, in deep snow and eliminated 1 tractor and drag! We groom our trails 20′ wide where ever possible and they are the best marked in the county, you won’t get lost on our trail system! In 2010, we had to cease the operation of winter ATV use on all of our snowmobile trails, due to increasing abuse from disrespectful ATV’ers creating problems on private lands. Moving forward in 2011 we strive to keep up with the best snowmobile trails in the county and that is out main focus moving on. Upgrading in 2017 we purchased a 2007 Prinoth BR180 tracked groomer to supplement and someday replace out Piston Bully.

The Clark County Forest ATV and Snowmobile Trails are maintained by the Parks and Forest Department as well as the 9 other clubs that maintain the rest of the trails in Clark County. Our club would not be where it is today without the help and permission of the 89 landowners who allow us to cross their lands. With out them we would have no trails. All of our members that help out, donate their time and it is much appricated when we get compliments on how well of a job we have done.

Another fabulous weekend in the books…also, another one coming up. We are forecasted to get about five more inches of snow this week. Our groomers have been out non-stop trying to keep up with all the snow and with you as well.

We are noticing a lot of deer on the trail due to the large amount of snow in the woods. Please do not chase them. Give them a moment and they will get out of your way.

Lake crossings still are safe, however, may be slushy and rough.

Trails are very good…Enjoy them.
