Snowmobile Trail Conditions
The Price County Area Trails are officially open now. There is a lot of snow but the clubs are working to get the trails groomed and cleared. Swamps need to be packed, many creeks and streams are still open. BE CAREFUL. Watch for open water and downed trees that have not been cleaned up.

Prentice Bushbenders Trail Report 12/19/2019
The trails are open but are in rough early season condition. We have only been out with our compactor and have not been able to pan or groom any trails yet due to numerous wet spots. We have been out breaking these spots up trying to get them to freeze down and are gaining on them so hopefully we will be starting grooming operations around Christmas. If you ride please use caution. Merry Christmas from the Prentice Bushbenders.

Park Falls Sno Gypsies 12/18/2019
Trails around Park Falls are slowly getting groomed. Several of the swamp areas are still partially open. Please when riding in the ungroomed areas of the swamps ride wide to pack the trails.

Price County has 500 miles of trail, maintained by 9 volunteer clubs. You’ll find beautiful scenery and wildlife along the trail system to enhance your experience.

Reporter:Threelakeswi

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 23-25”

Date of Report: December 18, 2019

Area Report:

Trails are closed however, they will open Friday December 20th at 8am.

The lakes will not be marked yet due to unsafe conditions.

Please do not ride the trails. You may see tracks, but those are from our volunteers brushing and packing down the trail.

More fresh snow overnight, we have close to 2’ on the ground in the past 30 days. A great start to winter, however, it is causing some
Havoc. It is not letting our lakes and swamps freeze. We are out panning and packing down the swamps and trails. We hope, I say hope to open towards the end of next week, which would be about December 20th. We should know more early next week.

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – December 18, 2019

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: approximately 20″

Date of Report: December 18, 2019

Area Report:

Oneida County LAND based trails will open this Friday (12/20) at 8:00 am.  All of the trails around the Rhinelander area have been packed via the groomers.  The vast majority of the trails have not been panned with the drags at this point.  The club spent an enormous amount of time clearing the trails and packing the wet spots.  Trail 12 (Larry Dorich Trail) from TIN 247 to McNaughton will remain closed at this point due to wet areas.  Lakes are not safe unless they are marked (almost none of them are marked at this point).

The trails are open to ride, there is plenty of base, but they will be in early season condition until the groomers with drags can get out – next week.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 18-24 inches packed, 3-4+ feet in the woods

Date of Report: December 18, 2019

Area Report:

Bayfield County Snowmobile Trails are open! We are living in a winter wonderland up here in Bayfield County. A few big snowstorms have left a huge amount of snow on the ground. While this snow makes for beautiful trails it has also created some challenges and our clubs have been hard at work getting the trails ready. Most trails have been either panned or groomed however some wet spots have not. Wet spots and swamps continue to be an issue. Lakes are not safe. Some trails have not been groomed or ridden by the clubs so may have downed trees. Contact your local club and see if they need help clearing or packing trails!

Some trouble spots to note:

  • The Bibon Swamp near Mason and Grandview– not frozen
  • Trails around Port Wing – haven’t been groomed or ridden due to wet trails and some equipment issues.
  • Trail 1 in the North – Some spots haven’t been frozen down yet or cleared yet.

Namakagon Trail Groomers: NTG trail system is all open and groomed multiple times with a 20″+ base. Our multiple marshes have been groomed up to (and turned around) but not groomed thru yet.

Barnes Barnestormers: All the Barnes trails were groomed last week with the exception of 31 south from Mulligan Creek Road to the Sealy Fire Lane. We are advising no travel on this section until we get it groomed later this week. Hazards On this section of trail include wet areas, wash outs, down trees, logging and missing trail markers. We began grooming Sunday (12/15/19) evening and should have all trails done before the weekend. Our trails are in excellent condition with no known hazards with the exception of 31 south at the present time.

Drummond SnoJacks: We spent 10 long hours on trail 4 pushing trees off and breaking trail. Leaving this morning (12/16/19) to try to sign the fields may take most of the day. Not all brush has been removed by 4 corners small over hanging trees have to be cut back yet fair warm snowmobiles that it may not be finished till the end of the week.

Frosty’s Vintage Riders: All groomed to as far as Frosty’s. Frosty’s to mason will be groomed within a day or 2, beware of logging operations between Pike River Road and Delta Drummond Road.

Washburn Valhallers: Thanks to help from Tony in the Iron River area, Trail #13 from the Corridor to Washburn was groomed Monday (12/16/19) and Trail #13 from Washburn to Valhalla should be groomed by the end of the day Tuesday (12/17/19).  Trails out of Valhalla are 80% open. Parts of Trail 1 and 31 have not been groomed but will hopefully be opened up by the weekend.

South Shore– Port Wing, Herbster & Cornucopia: Worked on Trail 1 Monday (12/16/19) from Herbster to Swedlund rd. Cleared all downed trees, did not use the drag yet. Tuesday cleared Trail 40 from 7 mile Rd to Trail 31 of downed trees. Hope to finish trail 1 to Corny tomorrow and then will be grooming
