Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – December 20, 2019

Reporter:boulderwi

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 24-30 inches

Date of Report: December 20, 2019

Area Report:

Vilas County Snowmobile Trails opened today (December 20) at 8:00am.  All trails in the Boulder Junction Trail System have been panned and are just starting to create a base. We are happy to report that the trails are in EXCELLENT early season riding condition.

I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in making it possible for the trail system to be opening. There were a lot of downed trees and limbs on the trail.  Please use extreme CAUTION! Some areas have ruts. With the large amounts of snow we’ve had in the last few weeks, hazards and debris can be on the trail.

The swamps and boggy areas in the trail system are still freezing up. Please stay on the marked trails. Be careful! Keep thinking snow and cold to hold and improve our conditions as we head into the season. Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride!

Gogebic Area Grooming  12/20/19

Trails are being groomed daily in most of the Lake Gogebic Area.   Trails are all reporting in good condition.

We received over a foot of snow so far this week and our temp this morning was 12 degrees.   Temps are going to warm up this weekend, but look to drop back down early part of next week.

Groomers are reporting all trails in the Lake Gogebic Area to be in very good  to good condition and wet spots have frozen over.

Trail 1N:   Good to very good

Trail 1S:  Gogebic Area Grooming and their volunteers were out for 2 days clearing Trail 1 on the West Shore.  There is enough snow to make snow bridges to get across the wet and washed out areas and hoping to have this trail open by Christmas!

Trails 13 North and South All trails on South end being groomed and very good to good.

Past the Root Cellar, there is more logging. You will have to travel on East Shore Rd approximately 2 mile further then before to get back onto trail 13.  A new reroute will take place.  Please follow the signs marked 13.   (Permanent Re-Route for the 2019-2020 Season).

Trail 8W between Bergland and Wakefield – most all wet spots have closed over.  Good condition.

Trail 8W:   is open and snow cover is good.

Trail 102: trail 102 has been broken and there is a lot of snow.   There is a new reroute about 4 miles before

trail 11.  The trail is marked well and the reroute was a very nice turn out.     (Temporary Re-Route)

Trail 100: Logging is happening between Stagecouch Rd and the Slate River (very end of Lake Gogebic)   Marshall Creek Bridge has been fixed so you can get to Marenisco from trail 100. (Permanent for 2019-2020 season)

Trail 1 from Trail 100 to Trail 8Closed until further notice as logging is taking place until the end of December.     You still can access the Gogebic Lodge and we plan to maintain it up to the Lodge, so we can get up and run.

Please stay on the trails,  respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely.  The signs on the trails are there for rider’s safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Trail Report – : Three Lakes – Brule River, Wisconsin – December 20, 2019

Reporter:Threelakeswi

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 24-25”

Date of Report: December 20, 2019

Area Report:

Our trail system is going to open Friday December 20th. Please be cautious as these are early season conditions. Yes, it is the most snow that we have had on opening weekend in many years, however, that does bring some havoc on things too.

Alternate trail 13 to sugar camp from rice lake road to sugar camp trails is closed until further notice. It is not safe with running water in the swamp.

Swamps, some are good, some are bad. There are a few that we still cannot groom yet. They are safe to ride, or we would have closed that trail.

Lakes, they are not marked and will not be marked until they are safe.

If you come across a tree that has fallen or something that you may see unsafe, please message us on Facebook. Please try and get the trail or the tin(trail identification number) that are located at all intersections.

Please be safe out there, it has been a horrific fall getting the trail system open this year with all the storms. We have thousands of hours getting trails ready for your safety and enjoyment.

If you like our trails, be sure to put a few dollars in our donation boxes in your favorite establishment, if you see something you don’t like, message us on Facebook and let us know, we will do what we can to fix it.
