Area Report:

Trail report for March 9, 2020 – Trails are poor. The present temp is 24 degrees above zero and mostly cloudy. We groomed on Friday after the snow we had, and the trails turned out very nice. With sunny days and the temps reaching into the 50’s the last two days the trails in our trail system turned from good to poor. The next few days are expected to be in the 40’s for highs. This is not good. Please stay on marked trails. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Road routes and road crossings are bare. The cabin fever party on Saturday was a huge success! I would like to thank Jesse, Crystal, Jimmy Dean and their crew for hosting this event. I would also like to thank Jen and everyone that helped and supported this event. Thanks!  Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Trail Report
Late season conditions in Eagle River

With the extremely warm weather grooming has stopped.

Trails are in Poor to Fair condition.  Very very warm temps & evil sun yesterday took a great toll. Warm continues for the near future.  There may be groomers on the trails as Sno-Eagles is using the brush cutter mounted on one of the Pisten Bullys to cut brush to clear trails.

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are still marked.  Both have small sections of surface slush.  Stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Remember not all lakes are safe.  No markers means probably not safe

55mph nighttime speed limit.

Would like to see ya on the trails again!

Area Report:

Temps are warm this weekend, that’s for sure.  Trails held up good Friday, by the end of Saturday they were soft and road crossings and parking lots are all bare.  Going through Hancock, the trail going from the bridge north thru Hancock is getting light, still snow on it, but once you get out of town there is plenty of snow on the trails.  They will not be out grooming today because of the temperatures, do more harm than good, but will be back out on Monday to get the trails back in shape.  Everyone need to get out there and do some snow dancing, a dumping of snow and the trails will be back up to excellent!!  Basicly,  all trails are open, will be groomed Monday and riding is typical late season riding.  A little snow will freshen up the trails.  Plan those trips!!

Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Trail Report
Late season conditions in Eagle River

Trails yesterday were still rideable even to the end of the day.  Yes there were Poor conditions.  But there also were Fair & Good conditions.  But last night the temps did not drop into the 20’s as forecast.  So nothing froze back up.  The mushy trails are still mushy.  Today high will be 53 & the evil sun out.  By the end of today there will be Poor conditions with perhaps some Fair.

The Groomer Tracking System(GTS) shows no grooming overnight. Might see a groomer out on the trail with the brush cutter attachment.  they are out clearing brush & tree branches from the trail to make them safer.

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked.  Both have small sections of surface slush.  Stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Remember not all lakes are safe.  No markers means probably not safe

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – March 7, 2020

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 0 to 5 on the trail

Date of Report: March 7, 2020

Area Report:

This is a tough time to try to do a report. They average poor to fair. Where the trails are shaded, they are still pretty good. Where they are exposed to the sun, the snow is dwindling fast. Where the trails are exposed to the sun and it is a main heavily traveled section – they are junk. Town trails are pretty much mud, water, and rocks & gravel. If you do ride – please be ultra careful. The  markers are also getting pulled from some lakes. As always – if you don’t see markers – don’t cross. The lakes will deteriorate fast this year. Ice conditions this year were not that great to begin with. They were “OK” by the marked crossing, but anywhere else on the lake they are (were) totally unpredictable.

Trail Report – : Spooner and Washburn County, Wisconsin – March 7, 2020

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 3-8″

Date of Report: March 7, 2020

Area Report:

Official Trail Report: Washburn County Snowmobile Trails are open at this time, however all trails will close for the season at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9th. Current trail conditions are fair to poor with a 3 to 8 inch compacted snow base. Caution is advised due to patchy ice conditions throughout the trail system. Due to recent warm temperatures, there are some stretches of trail with little or no snow.

Trail Report – : Phelps, Wisconsin – March 7, 2020

Reporter:Phelps Snowmobile Club

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 12″ with less in the corners and open areas

Date of Report: March 7, 2020

Area Report:

The entire Phelps trail system was groomed last night.  Trails should have set up good with temperatures in the upper teens.  Watch for changing conditions through out the day.  Hard trails and icy corners will become slushy and you may encounter water in some places as the temperatures climb to the mid to upper 40’s.  Lows tonight are predicted to stay above freezing and highs on Sunday forecasted to be in the low to middle 50’s.  There may not be any grooming tonight due to the warm temps.  Sorry to say, but the snowmobile season is winding down.  Get out if you can for some of the last riding of the year.  As we’ve said all season, please ride safe and think of others out on the trails

Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Trail Report
Adventure Sledding time of the year
Late season conditions

Did you ride the new SNOW yesterday?  Today the temps are popping up to 46.  Evil sun will be out.  Low tonight of 33.  This will cause a big melt.  For the next 2 days warm temps.  There is SNOW forecast on Monday.  Could be a wintery mix.

The Groomer Tracking System(GTS) shows no grooming overnight.

Best riding at this point is east & north. Roads trails are pretty bare so trailering out would be a good idea. Conditions will vary.  Here are 2 ideas for riding.

East dropping off at the Cenex Station east of Eagle River & heading east.  From there you can ride east & choose between heading toward Three Lakes or Phelps.  Much of these trails are woods under cover. Not all but a lot.

Trailing into town & heading north toward Conover. Many woods trails in Conover are snow covered.

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked.  Stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Remember not all lakes are safe.  No markers means probably not safe

55mph nighttime speed limit.

The WCDC aka Derby Track is hosting the 2020 Arctic Derby Dash.  The SXS UTV Race Series.  Sounds like great racing fun!!  Gates open at 11am.  Racing at 3pm.

THINK COLD!  KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!!

See ya on the trails!
