Snowmobile Trails

Red Arrow Snowmobile ATV Club (Townsend) –  2/9/20

The trails are FRESHLY GROOMED, hard, flat and icy in spots, especially in the corners! We will be out grooming all of our trails tonight. They are still in in very good to excellent riding condition, except between intersections 510 & 512, which I would rate as fair riding condition. It had starting to form a base since last snow, but much of it has since melted , with some bare spots now showing. It is still an area to be cautious in, but a decent ride right now. Reach out into the wooded trails to seek out the best the area has to offer

Paul Bunyan Riders Snowmobile Club (Lakewood) –  2/9/20

All Paul Bunyan trails were groomed Saturday night after a very busy day. Most had to be double groomed. We have about 3 inches of snow already by noon. The groomers will be out again tonight as well as all week. There will be some awesome trails for week day riding.

Chute Pond Snowmobile Club (Mountain) – 2/9/2020

Chute Pond Snowmobile Club trails are open, groomed on a regular basis, and in good to very good condition. Our team of groomers is working on the 6-8″ of fresh snow that fell today.

NEW DETOUR: There is a new detour route from INT#447 that runs north and west and intersects with the 18 Corridor trail at Riverview Rd (see map- detour is shown in red). Thank you to the Towns of Mountain and Riverview for allowing the use of the unplowed town roads to complete this detour. The detour route is groomed and marked.

Exceptions (see map): Trails that will remain closed indefinitely are from INT#451-INT#453 (from east of Hwy 32 behind the Junction to Jack Pine Rd), and from INT#447 north to the 18 Corridor trail near Cooked Lake (the northern pipeline trail). DO NOT ride the closed trails- they have not been cleared from the July wind storms because the swamps are still wet and have not allowed equipment to get in to work on those areas yet. The closed areas are tangles of fallen trees in a swampy area- you don’t want to go there.

Cautions for the entire season: Be aware that any off-trail riding- even to take one ski off to “grab a little loose snow”- could be dangerous. The July wind storms have devastated many areas of our forested trails, and there are many trees and limbs on the ground just off the edges of the groomed trails. Please stay safe- stay on the groomed trails. Riders are urged to reduce speed and ride with extra caution, as the forest and the trails look very different since the storm. There are numerous logging operations that will be ongoing throughout the season. Please use extra caution in these areas. No Chute Pond trails cross any lakes or rivers- use extreme caution on all frozen surfaces. You are encouraged to carry a portable hand saw if possible, since limbs and branches continue to fall onto and over the trails. Please- ride sober, stay to the right, and stay on the marked trails.

Bagley & Brazeau Joyriders – 2/5/20

The trails held up through the warm weather on the weekend. So we are grooming Wednesday & Thursday and Friday, if needed. The trails are good to excellent condition. The trails in the marshes and low areas that are not groomed, we tried to groom in the marsh this week but we broke through again.  They are getting a little rough so take it slow through them and enjoy the good trails. Chute Pond opened and marked a trail to get to Crooked Lake or Chute Pond this week. When you get to the intersection 447 leaving BB Joyriders trails, keep going west and this trail will link you to the trail that goes north to Crooked Lake or South to Chute Pond.

Gillett Sno ATV Riders – 2/9/20

The groomer will be out tonight 2/9 and tomorrow 2/10 during the day getting trails back in order after the recent snowfall. The Nicolet State Trail is in great condition and is currently being groomed.  The spur off trails will be hit tonight and tomorrow. The entire Gillett trail system will open on Tuesday 2/11 at 8am

Oconto Falls Sno-Jokers – 2/9/20

Oconto Falls trails will open at 8 am, Monday February 10th. Please use extra caution as the groomer has not yet been out.  Please go slow as ditches and swamps will be hazardous if riding too fast for trail conditions.  We are also asking that you go slow in corners and pack the trail down wide until we are able to pan the trails later this week. Please stay between trail markers, And ride safe!

Lena Sno-Drifters – 2/9/20

Open.

Chase Sno-Chasers – 2/9/20 CLOSED.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Too good for you not to be here!

Date of Report: February 10, 2020

Area Report:

Groomers are running nightly, trails are in good shape. Groomers run once a day and typically at night, so towards the end of the day with lots of traffic the trails are going to be rough until the groomer goes out again. Trail #3 from the Wisconsin Border and Trail #2 east are both seeing over 250 sleds during a 6 hr period and this is making it very hard to hold the groom

Trail #3 from the Wisconsin border to Watersmeet good but lots of traffic very hard to hold a groom, Watersmeet to Paulding good. Both logging project on Trail #3 are done

Trail #2 west of Watersmeet out to Trail #1 south, very good

Trail #2 east of Watersmeet to Trail #107, good but lots of traffic hard to hold the groom

Trail #13 south to Cisco Chain, good

SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER
Varying conditions – Many icy sections

Another cold morning in Eagle River.  Currently 7 moving on up to 21.  3 degrees tonight. Weather reports & radar show SNOW moving in around 9am.  Continuing through the day until around 5pm.  1-3 inches of SNOW forecast.  Do a SNOW DANCE so we get more! 20’s for highs & teens overnight for the next few days.  More SNOW forecast for Wednesday. Cloudy today!!

Out riding yesterday & it was busy on the trails.  See our ride below.

Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS Trails) is having technical difficulties this morning.  So no trail grooming report for this morning.  If corrected will update later today.

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked.  Rode Eagle Lake trail yesterday.  There are slight bumps but nothing very bad.  Did find trail very very icy with blow off of snow in some sections.  Please slow down.

Yesterday rode from our house on 10E heading west toward town.  Trail good all the way in.  A little chop on the section under the trees along Hwy 70.  Road sections were partially covered with ice.

Took Chanticleer Inn trail to Eagle Lake.  Some chop but ok.  As reported above no moguls on Eagle Lake but it was very very icy.

Trail 1 heading north was good.  Townhall Rd section on the road was very icy.  1 all the way 17N intersection was good.  Went right on 17N to Columbus Rd & it was very good.

Headed back on 17N. Section from trail 1 intersection west to Hwy 45N road crossing fair with bumps.

Trail 3 aka Manske Swamp was pretty good on the east side up to the middle.  West side fair.

10W/13N up to the turn toward the Wisconsin River Bridge area was very rough.  Wisconsin River Bridge section was good.  Frozen tight.

At the intersection of 10W/13N took 13N.  Rode all the 13’s in the Bucatabon Bridge/Bauer’ area trails were they excellent.  Looks to have been groomed more than others.  Rode back pretty much the same way we went up there on 13. Crossing back over the Wisconsin River Bridge – 10W/13N all the way down to Eagle River.  From 3N aka Manske Swamp intersection all the way to where you pick up Adams Rd trail not groomed & very rough.

From turn back into the woods into & through town trails good.  A bit of chop on “The Grade” section of 10W/13N just before Hwy G crossing.  Snow in town is still soft & mushy but there is plenty of it. Not much water at crossing even with the evil sun out.

Headed home on Alt13/3S which had a few more bumps.  Turn onto 10E.  Loon Lk Rd to Bloom Rd was pretty good.  Some chop.  Road sections very icy.  Riding east on 10 trail was very rough with moguls all the way home.

THINK COLD & KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!!  P.S. No evil sun either!!

Be safe.  See you on the trails!

CROSS COUNTRY CRUISERS TRAIL REPORT 02/06/2020
The Cruisers trail system is in somewhat good shape, considering the high amount of traffic we’ve been having. There are some icy areas, spots that are down to dirt and corners may be slick, so ride with extra caution. Just waiting for the 4” of new snow that’s predicted for this Sunday!
We’ve had complaints about off trail riding in the Minocqua Park Complex (Trail 10 along Camp Pinemere Rd) I guess we can’t stress this enough-please PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGNS & STAY ON TRAILS- or risk losing them. Don’t be the one to ruin it for all others.
Ride SMART,ride SAFE, ride RIGHT!!
