Date of Report: December 28, 2020

Area Report:

December 28, 2020 – 8:16am 16 degrees – High of 16

Trails in Eagle River & All of Vilas County remain CLOSED

Not much new to report.  About an inch of new SNOW east of Eagle River.  4-5 inches SNOW on the ground.  Next SNOW on Wednesday with no firm totals by the weather guys.  So stay tuned & please DO THE SNOW DANCE.

Most clubs have been out over the last past days panning & packing with groomers.  A few clubs are running sleds in the areas that are still wet to pack with. Now we wait. With not much new to report.  All need more SNOW.

Here in Eagle River Sno-Eagles Trail Boss reports swamps & wet area are basically frozen. Trail 10 aka Wisconsin Bridge area is still mushy so it may not open when the rest of the trails open.  Panning will start when there is a solid 5 inches+ of SNOW throughout Sno-Eagles Country.

Eagle & Catfish lakes are building ice.  Stay off for now until the Sno-Eagles determine both are safe & marked.

A few trail update reminders:

Trail 13 that heads west of Eagle River has a re route in the section that comes out on Oak Lane by the Pine Gables Restaurant.  There is new construction going on so the club has done a temporary move over of the trail.  Next year the trail will be moved slightly south permanently.

Also the lake spur off of the Eagle Lake Trail that takes you to Eagle Waters Resort is back open!!!  The owner Laura Koranda & adjacent landowners worked hard to have this happen!

Eagle River Volunteer Fire Department regularly checking ice depths & quality on Silver Lake.  If all goes as it is there just might be an ICE CASTLE for 2021!

All in all we NEED MORE SNOW.  So DANCE!!!

THINK SNOW!

Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – December 26, 2020

Reporter:haywardlakes

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 4-6 inches

Date of Report: December 26, 2020

Area Report:

A few of the crews headed out to check some trails last night. Trails from Hayward to Seeley 63, 31, 77 and 8 were groomed and pretty good. There are no lakes and swamps in these areas so a good area to ride right now. Trails 9 and 3/5 south towards Moose Lake were done, also no lakes and swamps. The groomer pulled in and panned the snow filling in groves, do need more snow on those trails. Other crews will be out checking lakes and trails this weekend and early next week. We will update as soon as any new information comes in.

News and Reports:

As you explore the trails in Sawyer County, you’ll notice the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs signs along the way.  Don’t just zoom past–stop and snap a selfie with it.  If you post on Facebook or Instagram with #sledsawyer2020 you will be entered into a drawing!  See www.haywardlakes.com for contest rules.

Reporter:haywardlakes

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 4-6 inches

Date of Report: December 24, 2020

Area Report:

Hello Riders!  There is a lot of open water on LCO yet. Round Lake is similar. Some others are all frozen over and getting close to stake. Swamps are working on freezing as well. We did get approximately 4-6” of fresh snow, it’s a great start and we love having a beautiful white Christmas however groomers are not running yet, waiting for the cold snap tonight and tomorrow to set up the snow. Many crews are looking to check the other lakes again this weekend. We will update this weekend upon crews checking trails and lakes. Until then stay tuned! We wish you and your families a happy and healthy Christmas
