TRAILS REMAIN CLOSED AT THIS TIME
Snowmobile Information:
Conditions and snow totals vary throughout our trail system. 15″ on the high side by Oma and Saxon to 4″ near Lake Superior. The soft areas are not frozen, and seem to need breaking in order to freeze with these single-digit temps. Hopefully we get more snow in the days ahead to secure this base before traffic. Trails remain CLOSED at this time. Check back for regular updates!

Ashland County Trials are OPEN but have minimal snow coverage. The National Forest Trails are still Closed. Please be patient it’s coming!
Please stay on the trail. A lot of Ashland County snowmobile trails are on farmers land, please be respectful so we don’t lose our easement to their property. Snowmobiles may not be modified, or operated, to amplify or otherwise increase the total vehicle noise above the originally manufactured snowmobile noise level.

Area Report:
Trails are OPEN and are in good condition. We have started to groom and will try to stay at it. We did have 11″ of snow and the trails have plenty of snow on them but we also had a lot of wind so there is drifting out so ride safe. Don’t forget to feed the trail boxes when you stop at one of our businesses. If you need lodging the Baymont of Freeport has given us a snowmobile rate at $80 per night plus tax call 815-656-4632 and ask for snowmobile rate

Trail Conditions: Not Ridable
Snow Cover: 8-10 inches
Date of Report: January 15, 2024
Area Report:
Hey everyone, sorry for delay in updating Iron County’s trail report. I took a couple weeks off with the low snowfall early on in January this year. Currently, I would say we have about 8-10 inches of snow depending where you are at and how the wind blew this past weekend with the storm. Groomers have panned a few of the trails but really not enough snow to do much with out there yet. Extremely cold temps through this week and weekend… sounds like a little warmer temps going into next week again.
So we’re all hoping for more snow as soon as possible to get out on the trails and kick up some snow. I will update the report in a few days to keep everyone up to date on our area.
News and Reports:
With the extreme cold snap this week… lakes should be looking pretty good for the ice fisherman that may be looking to come up and do some ice fishing this weekend. Also, don’t forget – Michigan’s “FREE” Fishing Weekend 17th & 18th, 2024.
Free Michigan Snowmobile Dates for (2024) – February 9th, 10th and 11th, 2024. No permits or license needed for the dates listed above.
Don’t forget Iron County has a wonderful Ski Hill which is open and going strong! Be sure to check them out online as well.
We sure hope to see everyone soon this winter season. It’s “Our Time” to play!! 🙂

Area Report:
Well the first big storm of 2024 for Bayfield County was a bust. Of the 12-20 inches predicted, we may have gotten 2-6 depending on where in the county you are. Clubs have been out panning the little snow we have. This cold snap will help freeze everything down, but we still need snow, and lots of it, before trails can open.
