Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Monday, 1/10/22:

It’s -15 out this morning with a high near zero. We will be warming up midweek with the next chance of snow on Friday.

Our groomers were out last night grooming 15N, 6E, 2W, and 8W.  8E was groomed this morning and 15S will be groomed later today. Our groomers rate the trails as good to very good with the exception of 15S between Hwy K and the intersection of Sayner’ trail 11 which has developed moguls which need daily cutting and filling to keep smooth.

With the cold temps and light early week traffic, our trails should hold up well through out the week.

Enjoy our trails, be safe, and check for an updated report on Wednesday, 1/12/22.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS IN GOOD RIDING CONDITION

January 10, 2022 – 6:40 am 15 below zero – High of 2 today

The high winds on Saturday & Sunday brought in a cold front. 15 below this morning with a high today of 2.  Only one day of the freezer.  Tomorrow temps are popping back up to the low to mid 20’s for highs & teens at night until Friday.  SNOW Friday with teens during the day & at night.  2 inches forecast.

Heavy traffic on the trails all weekend.  Was hoping to get out today but will wait until Tuesday or Wednesday when temps rise.

Today I’m happy to report the Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows nearly the entire system was groomed last night.

Not groomed was Trail 10E which includes all the spurs: Chanticleer Trail that leads to the south entrance of the Eagle Lake Trail; Granpa Grahm aka Trail 1 that goes to Eagle Waters Resort;  9 miles Trail which is an alternate trail to Three Lakes Trail system.  The other section not groomed was the Uncle Kent Trail which goes south from Trail 10W & comes out along County Hwy G.

REMINDER: Catfish & Eagle lake trails were marked & are NOW OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Note the spur from the northside Eagle Lake boat launch that leads to Eagle Waters is NOT OPEN at this time.   Work in progress. Stay tuned.

There is a re route on 10/13/7/17 heading west.  Did stump grinding to help smooth out the area.  New SNOW has helped that area a lot.

Construction on the Ice Castle started yesterday.  The Castle is the first constructed since 2018.  Takes cold weather & clear thick ice. Below are 2,000 blocks of ice that will be used to construct the Castle by the Eagle River Fire Department & many volunteers. Here are photos taken by Dan Dumas of Sunday’s work.
Would like trail photos so I can post to the report to let other riders see the real time conditions.  Send them to info@baysidelodgingrentals.com

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-6″

Date of Report: January 8, 2022

Snowmobile Information:

I rode with friends Thursday, Friday, and today. They are all headed to Hayward tonight for the AWSC directors meeting tomorrow. Another great group of volunteers. Our trails, and everything north was amazing the last three days. Today, they are starting to show wear from traffic, and warmer temps. Open areas are getting sugary. Northern Hornshoes will continue to groom for the next day or so, panning the open, high traffic areas, and grooming where the snow has some meat to it the best we can, then stand down for snowfall. Trail 17, the grade, is getting gravely in spots and has very little snow as you go north to the marsh. Road trails are thin.We crossed Fence Lake today, and there are a couple of slushy areas out in the middle. We should be marking Fence Tuesday. Be safe. Mark
