Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6″ – 8″ Base

Date of Report: January 13, 2022

Area Report:

Keweenaw snowmobile club is out every day and night grooming over 200 miles of trails from Copper Harbor to Toivola. Superior Snowmobile Club is out running every night covering everything from Toivola to Mass City and all of the surrounding area. Trails are all in good to excellent conditions right now. With well over 100 inches of snow so far this year we have plenty of snow to work with. We have snow in the forecast for the next 8 days plus single digit temps to the low 20’s.

All trails are open except Trail 3 from Lake Linden to Dollar, the Frieda Loop, and trail 109 south out of Twin Lakes.

Don’t forget the Masters Racing Circuit is holding the Winternationals Hillclimbs in South Range is coming up February 5th & 6th. Also I’ll be there with a groomer for those who would like to see what we use to give you that perfect ribbon.

Trail Report – : Sugar Camp, Wisconsin – January 12, 2022

Reporter:Matt Winters

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 16″-20″

Date of Report: January 12, 2022

Area Report:

Not much has changed since my last report trails are still in excellent condition with the exception of one trail near Ripco Rd. That section has not been groomed this year because that swamp for some reason does not want to freeze this year. It’s just not worth risking losing one of our pieces of equipment for a small section. Outside of that still a little thin in a few sections that run thru fields. The trails are the best I’ve seen them in a very long time so get out and ride, be safe, and have fun.

Trail Report – : Bayfield County, Wisconsin – January 12, 2022

Reporter:BayfieldCounty

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-12 inches

Date of Report: January 12, 2022

Area Report:

No new fresh snow this week, but we did have cold temps which helped us hold onto the snow we have. There’s some good riding to be had out there.  Just a reminder to all to please respect private landowners and stay on the trail. Stay on the trail or stay home!

Some trouble spots to note:

  • The Wally Polk Trail/Trail 40 near Port Wing and Herbster is closed. Flag road is a suitable re-route.
  • Trail 1 to Red Cliff/the Casino is temporarily closed due to a landowner issue. We have a solution, just need more to get it ready.

Namakagon Trail Groomers: All trails were groomed 1/10. We have a 2-4″ base. Some trails are good condition. Some are fair.

Barnes Barnestormers: The Barnes trails held up well despite the heavy traffic we had last weekend. I would rate them as good to excellent, there are some bare spots and icy corners. We will be grooming all week and all should be ready for the upcoming weekend.

Drummond SnoJacks: All Drummond trails are in good shape. All caught up and Trail 4 to Sanborn are looking good.

Iron River: Trails around Iron River have all been groomed and in good shape.

Washburn Valhallers: The Washburn groomer will be out just about every day this week.  Trails look to be in excellent condition for the weekend.  We still have a few rocks coming up on the Moquah Spur; we will catch this section again just before the weekend. Trails around Valhalla area and north are in excellent running condition. Trail one to the Legendary Waters casino is still not open we are currently working on a reroute.

South Shore– South Shore trails are groomed and in good shape also. Trails 3, 43 and 66 are groomed and in very good shape! Still need more snow by the lake but definitely better than last week.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Wednesday, 1/12/22:

It’s 26 degrees out this morning with mild temps and a chance of light snow forecast for the next 2 days. Colder temps  will be back for the weekend.

Our groomers were out last night grooming 15N and 6E.  8E and 15S were groomed early this morning.

With the upcoming holiday weekend, we anticipate heavier traffic. Colder temps coming on Friday will help to keep our trails in good shape, but we could use some fresh snow.

Enjoy our trails, be safe, and check for an updated report on Friday, 1/14/22.

Trail Report – : Rice Lake & Barron County, Wisconsin – January 12, 2022

ricelake_newbanner

Reporter:Jody

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 6-8 inches

Date of Report: January 12, 2022

Snowmobile Information:

More than 300 miles of groomed snowmobile trails lace Barron County, including the popular Tuscobia State Trail with 76 miles heading east from Rice Lake to Park Falls; the Wild Rivers Trail heading north from Rice Lake’s city limits leads 97 miles to Superior.

Barron County snowmobile and ATV trails remain closed. We’ve received approximately 8 inches of light snow, however it hasn’t provided a reasonable base to create sustainable snowmobile trails. Hopefully additional snow over the coming days will allow us to open the trails for the season.

January 12, 2022 – 6:20 am 26 – High of 27 today

Crazy temps swing.  17 below at this time yesterday.  Today it’s 26 with a high of 27 today & 13 tonight.  SNOW moving in tonight into tomorrow.  Looks to be only about 1 inch.  Could use more than that.  START DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!

A base of 7 inches +- that is frozen hard.  There is loose SNOW in most areas but crunchy with not much moisture.  New SNOW will help that out.  Icy section especially in the corners.

The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows most trails groomed last night. Here are the trails sections NOT groomed. Pick up a map to see exact locations

  • Trail 70W to connect with St. Germain trails – West of Eagle River
  • Trail 17S to connect with Sugar Camp trails – West & south of Eagle River
  • Trail 7 aka Paintball Field that comes out along Hwy H & connects with Sugar Camp trails – West & south of Eagle River
  • Trail 3N aka Manske north of Eagle River. Connects trail 10/13N to trail 17N
  • Section of Trail 10/13N from Hwy G to where the trail comes out on Adams Rd – North of Eagle River
  • Chanticleer Trail off of 10E that goes to Eagle Lake crossing from the south
  • Granpa Graham Trail off of 10E that goes to Eagle Waters Resort

REMINDER: Catfish & Eagle lake trails were marked & are NOW OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Note the spur from the northside Eagle Lake boat launch that leads to Eagle Waters is NOT OPEN at this time.   Work in progress. Stay tuned.

There is a re route on 10/13/7/17 heading west.  Did stump grinding to help smooth out the area.  New SNOW has helped that area a lot.

Would like trail photos so I can post to the report to let other riders see the real time conditions.  Send them to info@baysidelodgingrentals.com

KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!

See ya on the trails!!

Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – January 11, 2022

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-”

Date of Report: January 11, 2022

Snowmobile Information:

Northern Hornshoe Group marked Fence Lake today. There are a lot of drifts, and four areas of wet spots, so caution is advised. The trails on the rest of our lakes are excellent right now. I ran our entire system today, and other than being thin, the overall trail conditions are good. Trail 17, the grade is thin, but holding, from the Woodruff end to Wishow Lake Road, then bulks up some. It is good all the way north to Sugarbush Trail, then it gets very thin with gravel. Drive casual until the tree line starts after Powell Marsh where Mercer takes over. Trail 5 into the casino is very good. Trail along Highway F is good, but getting some bumps. 1 North along Stearns Lake Road is covered, but not much to ride on where you can’t cut into the banks. Sleds are doing a good job trying to carve into the banks. I did not run north on 1 but I am assuming there is still snow there once you get off of Stearns Lake and East Boundary. May run the roads by pickup just to take a peek. The cold is keeping what we have alive. Northern Hornshoes suspended grooming Sunday until we get more snow. I never want to blow snowshine up your trail, but there are still a lot of good places to play in our yard yet. Mark
