Reporter:minocqua

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6 inch base , 12-14 in the woods

Date of Report: January 18, 2022

Area Report:

With heavy traffic this weekend some of the corners are ice, it is snowing right now and might get a couple inches when its over, we could use it. Trails are flat now with some thin areas, the railroad grades need some more snow with some loose rocks on top so this snow will help, more snow this weekend should improve . The cross country cruisers have there winterfest this coming weekend starting Friday night  5-10 pm with food drinks and raffles. Saturday 11:00 to 6:00 at the cruiser barn in Arbor Vitae, come out and support your club.

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – January 18, 2022

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: good base

Date of Report: January 18, 2022

Area Report:

We are still keeping up with the trails even with the challenges with a groomer down and lack of fresh snow in the last 7-10 days.  The groomers are running double-shifts to keep the trails as flat as possible.  With the lack of fresh snow, some of the “holes” can’t be filled in without tearing up the base we have.

Hopefully, the snow in the forecast is more than predicted, and we can get back on track with all our machines.  The drivers are being flexible in their schedules and making it work.  Stay aware at all times for the possibility of grooming activity.

Our lake crossings look good so far as no significant slush areas identified.

There is one trail closure on the Hodag Sno-Trails system: Trail H4 from Boom Lake to the intersection just north of River Rd. This is basically the “land” route to not running Boom Lake.  The trail is closed at this point.  We have been just notified that this is a permanent closure.  Running the lake is the reroute.  The club will continue to look for another “land route” but it probably won’t happen for this season.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
WIDE RANGE OF CONDITIONS
ON AVERAGE FAIR – Need new SNOW

January 18, 2022 – 7:00 am 20 degrees – High of 28 today

SNOW moved in about 6:00am this morning. SNOW til noon.  3 inches forecast.  Sure can use it.  Trails are in need of SNOW after the high sled traffic this weekend. Still SNOW cover but a lot of blown out corners that are icy.  In the woods undercover decent SNOW cover. Open areas are icy with SNOW blow off.

Best riding in woods & out of town.  Northwest & South in covered areas.

10E heading toward Eagle River has areas of snirt on one way that is on the northside of the Hwy 70. Road sections are icy.  Some roads areas have have burned through sections. Heavy snirt coming out to cross Loon Lake Road.  Willow Road that connects you to Alt 13/3 is icy and/or bare.  “The Grade” heading to town is smooth & snow covered.  Crossings in town are “soupy” otherwise in town covered & not bad.

10W/13N from Hwy G to Adams Road is rough chop. Adams Road bare for the most. SNOW filled ditchline. 3N aka Manske Swamp coming from the west is rough.  Needs SNOW.  Swamp section is frozen & not bad. 17N heading back toward Eagle River is choppy on the west side of Hwy 45N with thin SNOW & snirt under the pines. Crossing road to the east side to town has more SNOW that is from winging the road banks.  A little mush in the hollow just past Hiawatha motel.

Heading west on 70/17/7 is in need of SNOW.  Lots of blown out corners, ice & snirt.  The re route section that comes out on Oak Lane by William’s Pine Gable is rough.  Crossing road rough sections until where the trail comes out of the woods.  Riding the treeline to Eagle River Inn is better but needs SNOW. Conditions from there to St. Germain connect also need snow. The trail is on the northside or Hwy 70 for the most part & sun hits it so there is snirt.

BRING ON THE SNOW!!

The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows only Trail 10E to include ALL the spurs and Alt13/3 that heads to Three Lakes were groomed last night. Check out a paper map for the details.

Catfish & Eagle lake trails were marked & are NOW OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Note the spur from the northside Eagle Lake boat launch that leads to Eagle Waters is NOT OPEN at this time.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Monday, 1/17/22:

It’s 22 degrees out this morning with a forecast of 2” of snow starting tomorrow morning. After Tuesday, temps will be cooling down for the rest of the week.

Our groomers were out last night grooming 15N, 6E, 8W, and 2W.  8E and 15S were groomed early this morning.

We saw heavy sled traffic throughout the holiday weekend, but with daily grooming our trails held up pretty well. We’re still developing moguls on 15S by the afternoon and the inside of some our corners are getting down to the ice base. We sure could use some fresh snow.

Thanks to all who stopped in and supported us at yesterdays snowmobile club breakfast held at Gooch 2.

Enjoy our trails, be safe, and check for an updated report on Wednesday, 1/19/22.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
WIDE RANGE OF CONDITIONS

January 17, 2022 – 6:40am 19 degrees – High of 23 today

Trails have all conditions.  On average I’d rate as FAIR.  There is GOOD & VERY GOOD too. The hard base of 7 inches +- that is frozen hard & holding. All thanks to the cold weather at night. There is loose hard SNOW in most areas but crunchy with not much moisture.  SNOW depth is about 14 inches total  There a few icy corners. Didn’t ride this past weekend but going riding this afternoon will have a better report for you tomorrow.

The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows almost all trails were groomed last night. Here are the 3 trail sections NOT groomed. Pick up a map to see exact locations

  • Trail 10E to include the spurs: Chanticleer, Grampa Grahm & 9 Mile not groomed. This is from the intersection of Alt 13/3 south of Eagle River
  • Trail 17N from Chain o’ Lakes Rd by Cenex Gas station to the intersection of 17N & 3N aka Manske Swamp.  Trail runs along side of Hwy 17N of Eagle River
  • Trail 10W/13N – section from Hwy G crossing to Adams Rd. North of Eagle River.

Catfish & Eagle lake trails were marked & are NOW OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Note the spur from the northside Eagle Lake boat launch that leads to Eagle Waters is NOT OPEN at this time.

The re route on 10/13/7/17 which is west of Eagle River still has rough areas. The Sno-Eagles Club did some stump grinding to help smooth out the area a few weeks ago.  New re routes can take a whole season before they smooth.

Sure would like trail photos so I can post to the report to let other riders see the real time conditions.  Send them to info@baysidelodgingrentals.com

Please KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!  We need lots! Looks like Tuesday SNOW

See ya on the trails next week!!

Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – January 16, 2022

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 2-6″

Date of Report: January 16, 2022

Snowmobile Information:

I will go with a fair report. Trail 17, the grade, is thin. From Woodruff to Stearns Lake Road, it is a klinker. From Stearns Lake to H is better, then from there to the Raven area is between the two. Trail 5 into the casino is good.Thin in spots but OK. 17 north from the 5 intersection is OK for two miles, then thin again. We ran trail 1, Stearns Lake Road, to Boundary Trail, up to 51, three days now. Thin but thanks to the bank runners, it keeps things going with enough snow. Our lake trails are good. Watch the middle of Fence Lake. Ice spots where water pushed up. I would avoid 17 until we get snow, and use 1 to 51. North from the Northern Hornshoe system is pounded, but runnable. The groomers are amazing. Amazing weekend with no snow, and high traffic. Boulder Club breakfast at Gooches was outstanding. Snow on the horizon for Tuesday. Ride safe. Mark
