Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – February 13, 2022

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 2-6″

Date of Report: February 13, 2022

Snowmobile Information:

I just ran a trail patrol. Heavy traffic the last few days. Trail 17 north at the Mercer handoff is the best it has been all year. It is thin, but there is snow, except at the marsh bridge. If you bypass the bridge, and run the marsh trail, then ride casual for a couple hundred yards, it is minimal but tolerable. Once you hit the tree line it is pretty good all the way to 5. 5 to the casino is good. 17 around Raven lake is in good shape – a couple of corners need slight work but not all blown out. 17 the grade from Raven to Stearns Lake Road is good, then as you head south it gets thin in spots, then thinner as you get close to Woodruff. Trail down F is excellent. Trail 1, up Stearns Lake Road, then East Boundary, is thin on the road, but still able to find snow. Once you hit the treeline, it is good to fair, up to where it intersects with 51, but grooming will fix it. Looking at 35 on Wednesday. That will poop on our party some. Good luck and ride safe. Area Report:

The trails are all in all good condition. There are some choppy sections and some icy corners but traffic was light last night when we were out grooming so they should have had a chance to freeze up hard and should be in excellent condition in the morning. Be safe and have fun.

TRAILS ARE GOOD TO FAIR

February 13, 2022 – 7:05m 17 below – High of 11 today – 5 below tonight

Weather guys got the overnight temps wrong.  It’s 17 below zero at I write this morning. So if you are riding early be sure to dress warm. By noon it should be above zero.  Looks like some Lake Effect Flurries too.  Trails are in really good shape on average & the cold is keeping them that way. Plus nightly grooming.

The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows groomers left the Groomer Barn along Hwy 45N near the Snowmobile Derby Track last night & the only sections NOT groomed were both Trail’s 1N & S which run to the Eagle Lake Trail & Granpa Grahm trail which is a spur off of Trail 10E that is located by the Off The Chain Restaurant at West Carpenter Lake Rd. Trail 10E is east of Eagle River & much runs along side Hwy 70E.

Groomer drivers are doing their magic at night in the cold. When you come upon them first pull over & then give ’em a thumbs up!

Heavy traffic everywhere & lots of large groups of riders.  Be sure to “Right Right” even in the corners.  Please remember to stop at road crossings & yield at driveways.  Also there is a 55 MPH speed limit at night. If you are going to Pond Hockey.  Taking a snowmobile might be a good bet as Chanticleer Inn trail runs right by it.  Take 10/13 south through town to the 10E connect.  10E out about 1 1/2 miles. Left onto Chanticleer Inn trail.

Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN. Stay by the orange reflective barrels.  DO NOT think the entire lake is safe.  Several sleds have gone in the water this season far from the barrels.

From the Namakagon Trail Groomers: We received ~1.5″ of new snow on 2/9. Trails have a 3 – 4″ base and trails are in fair to good condition. All trails will be groomed Thursday 2/10 and ongoing throughout the weekend. The Cable Area is set to get 2 – 6″ of snow on 2/10 into 2/11.
