EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
GOOD

February 26, 2022 – 6:51am 0 degrees – High 30 – Low tonight 12

Lots of traffic Friday afternoon into Friday night.  Trails holding with the help of clippers of SNOW & cold nighttime temps.  Evil sun was out yesterday.  At this time of the year sun is out for long periods of time & it softens up the SNOW.  As of last night all trail out of town, even the ones running along highways & even those on the northside of those highways are holding up very well.  SNOW covered.  GOOD conditions.  Under cover VERY GOOD.  Trail 10/13 the section that runs right through town is showing some minor snirt.  From the sun & heavy traffic running through town. Rating them FAIR.  All in all rate the trail on average GOOD.

Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS) shows groomers back out grooming last nightAll trails were groomed except Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp which is a short trail that connects trails 10W/13N & 17N.  Pretty sure the swamp portion is frozen hard & has been smooth.  As you head west on 3N toward 10W/13N the land portion is rough. Under the snow in this section it is a rough patch surface & is privately owned. Hopefully the landowner will allow some work to smooth that out.

To be safe please Ride Right even in the corners.  Please no off trail riding.  The Clubs of Vilas County work very hard to secure easements from private landowners & folks we are losing many due to off trail riding.  So PLEASE NO OFF TRAIL RIDING.

Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN. Stay by the orange reflective barrels. Surface slush with the sun is possible. DO NOT think the entire lake is safe.  Several sleds have gone in the water this season far from the barrels.

Please KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!  We’re going to make it into March!

Sleds still in the shop so “See ya on the Trails” real soon!

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Friday, 2/25/22:

It’s -3 degrees out this morning with sunny skies with milder temps forecast for the weekend.
Last night, we groomed 2W, 8W, 51, 15N, and 6E. Early this morning, we groomed 8E, 11, and 15S.
Our trails will be in very good to excellent shape for the start of the weekend.

I have been asked to remind sledders that when they are approaching a groomer on the trail to let the groomer pull over, stop, and signal you to pass them from either direction. With our daily grooming schedule, you will most likely see a groomer on our trails during the late afternoon and evening hours.

Get out and enjoy our trails, be safe, think snow! Check for an updated report on Monday, 02/28/22.

Groomers have been out and trails are beautiful with excellent conditions!

It is Birkie Week so there are some reroutes around the City of Hayward. Lake Hayward will be closed as well as Railroad Street and Main Street.

There will be barricades up to prevent riders from getting on and off of Lake Hayward, going on Railroad St and Main Street out of respect for the Birkie race. Barricades will be up just past Marathon/Holiday gas station on 63 so you will be able to get gas at those locations. There will be barricades at the end of Railroad St by Millers Market, on the entrances/exits of Lake Hayward at Market Place, the boat landing behind the Big Musky and Holiday Inn. Please remember there is no on/off of the lake by Hayward Marine, that trail was removed a year ago so please do not use it as the lake trail is closed this week and you will be trespassing if you go on/off on that side.

There is some trail crossings with the Birkie trail in the Seeley Hills so expect some delays, but no closings. Please be respectful of closures/reroutes and please cross at Birkie trail crossings slowly and respectfully not to hurt their trail.

Please watch, enjoy and cheer on these athletes! It’s a remarkable race!

2/25/2022

We had gotten 15+ inches of snow this past week.  Groomers have been out getting the trails groomed after all the snow.  All three clubs are reporting trails are in good to very good condition.  Grooming is ongoing.

Please stay on marked trails riding on unmarked trails can result in the clubs losing easement for that trail.

Gogebic Range Trail Authority Groomer Report February 25, 2022

Trails are in good to very good condition.  Groomers will be out grooming so please pull over when you see them.

Gogebic Area Groomers Report February 25, 2022

U.P. Thunder Riders Trail Report February 25, 2022

Trails are in good to very good condition.

Snowmobile season is in full swing, which means both riders and groomers are out on the trails. Here are a few things to keep in mind when enjoying the trails while grooming is taking place.

Be courteous to the driver – these volunteers do their best to keep snowmobile trails in riding condition.

Groomers use the entire width of the trail and have the right of way.

When a groomer is visible you must immediately move off the trail.

We hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable snowmobile season and remember to follow Ride Right safety tips –

Caution – Trail 3 south of Watersmeet. Logging Operation will be crossing Trail 3 in between US 45 south of Watersmeet and the Wisconsin Border. Be sure to STOP at all stop signs you do not want to run into a logging truck, they win.

Friday & the start of another weekend of sledding!  Trails are in good shape for riding.  EXCELLENT riding out of town.  In town trails FAIR to GOOD with more traffic.  Really no problem areas to report.  Temps today are perfect for riding.

To be safe please Ride Right even in the corners.  Please no off trail riding.  The Clubs of Vilas County work very hard to secure easements from private landowners & folks we are losing many due to off trail riding.  So PLEASE NO OFF TRAIL RIDING.

Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS) shows groomers back out grooming last night & groomed nearly the entire Eagle River system.  Upnorth the one-way section of Trail 13N that is near the Buckatabon Lake near Bauers Dam NOT groomed (the 2 way section is groomed).  Trail 1 aka Granpa Grahm which is a spur of Trail 10E out about 5 mile east of Eagle River & takes you to Eagle Water Resort was NOT groomed.

So with that said it was COLD last night so the trails set up very good.  It’s time to ride!!!

Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN. Stay by the orange reflective barrels. No reports of surface slush. DO NOT think the entire lake is safe.  Several sleds have gone in the water this season far from the barrels.

Reporter:Stretch

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 38″ on the ground

Date of Report: February 24, 2022

Area Report:

After a record breaking storm we are all out getting the trails back in shape. I recorded 19″ of snow from Monday till Wednesday morning on top of the 14″ we got last week. That puts the Keweenaw at a total of 265.5 inches for the season so far. Temps are going to warm up a bit for the next week holding in the 20’s. Plus not a lot of snow in the forecast. All groomers are running day and night from Toivola north. South of Toivola is running nights only.

All trails are open except Trail 3 from Lake Linden to Dollar, the Frieda Loop, and trail 109 south out of Twin Lakes.
