Expect ALL Conditions
Icy

March 16, 2022 – 7:42am – 33 degrees – High 53 – Low 31

Well it looks like the riding may be at an end in Eagle River.  Snow getting sloppy.  In town there is snirt & even dirt in many places.  North side of Trail 10E does have snow but it’s snirty, bare & icy.  South side of Trail 10E is still snow covered but it’s crystalized.   Temps only dropped to high 20’s last night & are already up to 33.

Groomer Tracking (GTS) shows no grooming over night.  Sno-Eagles have stopped grooming.

The Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance meets tonight in Presque Isle.  There will be a vote on when to close the trails.  In the meantime if you go out for one more ride PLEASE NO OFF TRAIL RIDING.  Trails are on land that Clubs have to get easements for.  The even goes for Federal, State & County land.  We have easements of permission for it all.  So please don’t jeopardize the trails.

It appears the barrels are off Catfish lake.  So I am assuming they are off Eagle lake as well.  Suggest not going out on either lake.

Can hear The Fat Lady practicing.

Check tomorrow for the closing date!

The Snowmobile Trails in Ashland County are Open and are in GOOD condition.  Due to the warm temperatures grooming is not happening at this time.  Watch for machinery on Trail 21-13, south of Cayuga, trail being rebuilt by Forest Service.  Detour: Snowmobilers go South on 181-183 intersection and can get on the trail by the little stub off 181 that goes to the trail.  Watch for logging where trail crosses Mud Line on Trail 12 (out of Butternut) and CAUTION, keep an eye out for chunks of dirt and rocks.   Please stay on the trail. Lots of Ashland County snowmobile trails are on farmers land, please be respectful so we don’t loose our easement to their property.  Order your Ashland county snowmobile map today!

Trail Report – : Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor, Michigan – March 15, 2022

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 30″ base

Date of Report: March 15, 2022

Area Report:

Spring is in the air here in the UP. Warmer weather for the next week is going to take its toll on our trails. I’m confident though that we’ll still be able to ride this week but with caution in some areas. Grooming in the Keweenaw has pretty much stopped except on the weekends. It’s just to warm day and night to groom. We’ve had one of the best years for flat trails and let’s hope it repeats itself next year.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Monday, 3/14/22:

It’s 13 degrees out this morning with a chance of 1” of snow today. After today, our temps rise into the 40’s. Over the weekend, we only groomed 15N on Sunday. With the warming temps coming tomorrow, we are probably finished grooming and Vilas County trails will probably be closing by the end of the week. There was good riding on the weekend and we still have a few days left.
