Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 10″-12″

Date of Report: February 17, 2025

Area Report:

Conditions have improved to good conditions with snow over the weekend.  cold temps this week will keep the snow around.  We still could use a heavy, wet snow that packs when groomed.  Our moister lacking snow that we received so far this year does not pack.  Warmer temps are coming this weekend.  So, if you are looking to ride on some good snow, head on up.

News and Reports:

Please use cation with an ice heave across North Twin.  Stay on close to the barrels on the lakes!

Tons of sleds on the trails this past President’s weekend!   Heavy traffic everywhere.  By yesterday afternoon trails were rough & some had moguls.  6 inches new SNOW at the beginning of weekend.  More Saturday.  Both Lake Effect & “real SNOW” but not much moisture. Sunday another 2 inches.  Skiff last night.  No SNOW forecast for the next week.  Temps will be all over the place. From today until Saturday single digits or below zero every night. Teens then moving up to the 20’s during the day as the week moves along.  Pretty typical mid-February weather.  Evil sun will be out some days. Nearly every trail groomed last night.

GTS Groomer app photo shows the trails groomed last night(right click on photo to enlarge) App is available for download to your phone. Green means groomed.

HERE ARE THE TRAILS NOT GROOMED:

  • Trail 10W13N from Hwy G to Conover Sno-Buddies connect
  • Trail 10W from west of the Wisconsin River Bridge heading west
  • Trail 1 of of 10E that head to Chanticleer Inn & Eagle Lake trail
  • Trail Grampa Grahm off of 10E that heads toward Eagle Waters Resort

NOTE: Trail 10E out of Eagle River becomes a one way from the ERRA SPORTS ARENA all the way to Mikes Gas Station.  It runs alone Hwy 70E.  The south side of the trail is ONE WAY going EAST only.  The north side of the trail is ONE WAY going WEST (back to Eagle River). Intersections are clearly marked with ONE WAY trail signs & DO NOT ENTER signs.  Very dangerous to go the wrong way.

Catfish Lake & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange reflective barrels.  Stay by the barrels as there is no guarantee the rest of the lakes are safe. They have icy spots so please slow down.  Lots of lakes have ice heaves so be safe & stay by the barrels wherever you ride.

Time to ride!!! ya on the trails!

Reporter:Stretch

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 247 total

Date of Report: February 16, 2025

Area Report:

Its been a snowy February so far with 60 inches already in Toivola and we’re just half way into the month. Keweenaw has recorded 66 inches and more is in the forcast for the month. I do see a warm up the second week of March but it should hurt the trails at all. Groomers are running every night so the trails are pretty sweet early mornings but tend to get choppy by early afternoon.

New SNOW totals in Sno-Eagles Country, Eagle River are from 4 to 6 inches.  Somewhat wetter SNOW overnight on Friday but still fluffy.  SNOW continued into Saturday most of the day with a combination of “real SNOW” & Lake Effect.  As for temps.  COLD at night with below zero nights until Thursday.  Highs in single digits with a jump to 13 on Wednesday.  SNOW is not going anywhere.

The dryness of the fluffy SNOW & the number of riders out on the trails makes grooming hard for the drivers.  Lays down smooth but with so many riders it doesn’t have time to set up.  Back to moguls pretty quick. Trails are still very icy underneath.  Slow down to be safe!
