SNO-EAGLES
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Very Good to Excellent

Eagle River Trails groomed by the Sno-Eagles are in fantastic shape.  There has been heavy traffic all weekend.  Groomers have been out every night into early morning.  Many times there are riders coming through right after the groomers so some trails do not have time to set up. Picture on left taken last night.

No problem areas to report this morning. Reports of small section of mushy SNOW on the west side of the Wisconsin River Bridge section of Trail10W/13N. Grooming will take care of that by filling with SNOW & packing. Same rider told me Manske Swamp,Trail 3N is tight with no mush.  Rest of the trails are in great shape.  Heavy traffic.  Be aware.  RIDE RIGHT.

Still road crews continue to clearing roads & driveways so watch for snowbanks at crossings.  The high banks might make it hard to see so be sure to stop at the crossings.

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are open & marked & still safe.  Ton of SNOW cover. Expect drifting. Slow down. Always stay by the orange reflective barrels to be safe.

NOTE: Off of Trail 70W after entering St. Germain is a trail locals call “The Goat” trail.  It is a Club Trail that starts at TIN 287 to TIN 288 that is CLOSED.  It is clearly marked as CLOSED with fencing & signs.  Please do not ride through this area from either direction. DO NOT RIDE ON HWY 70 as this is not legal. Right click photo to enlarge

On snowmobile designated road routes need to follow the speed limit set for the road for all vehicles.

Last, off trail riding is a big problem.  PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL & Take the Snowmobilers Pledge.

Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!  THINK COLD!

Trail Report – : Iron County, Michigan – January 20, 2023

Reporter:Colleen

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 12-18 inches

Date of Report: January 20, 2023

Area Report:

Here is the update after yesterday’s storm.  Depending where you are at in Iron County… we received a lot of snow.  Anywhere from 10″ – 14″ I have heard and read so far today.  Both snowmobile clubs have their groomers and operators out on the trails.. some were out as early as yesterday afternoon grooming.  I’ve seen some really nice pictures posted on Facebook… so all in all I believe the trails should be in good to very condition today and through the weekend!  There is a closing on Trail 15N to Trail #111 – there is an issue with a bridge that they are trying to work through.  But at this time I am being told it is still closed.  Looks like you can ride any direction at this time in the U.P.  Trail conditions are sounding pretty good.  Also being told that you can also ride south down to Wisconsin currently as well… I’m not sure how far south Wisconsin also received snow yesterday.

Just want to mention to everyone as a reminder.. under the new snow is a very good ice base… so ride with caution especially in the corners.. and please try to stay on your side of the trail when riding.  And don’t forget… give the operators a THUMBS UP when you see them.  🙂

Happy Trails to everyone… the trails look great… and it’s time to have some FUN!!  🙂

News and Reports:

Another mention… there is a “Winter Fest” this weekend being held at Young’s Golf Course. Lots of “Fun Activities” for kids and adults both.

Also activities being held at Ski Brule this weekend.  Both locations can be reached by snowmobiles just off the trails…

Time to enjoy this beautiful “Fresh Snow” in Iron County Michigan!!

Snowmobile Information:

Trails look good.. really good!!  Fresh snow as of yesterday… time to come ride!

Also, Michigan has opened up (February 11th & 12th) as a “Free Snowmobile Weekend”…  no permit needed to ride the Michigan Trails.  Help us to spread the word on this too.

Happy Friday!!! Fresh snow on the ground, temps are colder, it will be a good weekend!

Many groomers have been working hard as the holiday weekend left trails beat up and immediately following the weekend, warm and wet temps hindering the grooming process. Most trails have been freshly groomed since Wed through last night and are ready to rock. Remember you can check the GTS Trail App for up to date grooming conditions. Grooming will continue through the weekend.

The Loretta Trailblazer Snowmobile & ATV Club have reported their trails are all groomed, Hayward Sno-Mads Snowmobile Club were out until the wee hours the last two nights and will continue tonight until all complete, Musky & Sno Club and Sno-Trails Snowmobile Club have been out since Tuesday and most are groomed, a few are not yet as they both are down a unit and trying to use their other unit for all their trails. Sno Trails went down at 1am last night with a machine and are waiting for dealer parts so trail 3 to Grindstone has not been done yet. Trail 30 and 31 have been groomed.

So while there have been a few hiccups with machines , the volunteers have been working extra hard and getting the trails weekend ready. It will be a beautiful weekend to ride. Stay safe and enjoy the trails!
