It was another rocking breakfast at Sunrise Lodge. Reports have been very positive as all Frosty club trails were groomed last night. There is a warm up coming but night time temps should allow for us to continue grooming nightly. We really need the Evil sun to stay away. Some snow in the forecast as well so not all is gloom and doom. Plenty of riding left in Land O Lakes this season.

Fair to Good condition – Conditions changing quickly

Lake Effect SNOW as I report this morning 6 miles east of Eagle River.  But here comes the warm up. Weather guys forecasting temps & 30’s & even 40’s until next Friday.   Right now trails are Good to Fair & grooming continues.  With a warm up conditions will change quickly.  So get out & ride now!  Trails that run on the north & west side of road breakdown first keep that in mind when you ride.  As always woods riding is the best.  Road routes are for the most right ice covered on the edges & right of ways on the roads in most place still have hard snow. Some road routes are hard snow covered as of this morning, like Taylor Lake Rd that is part of 10E.  Adventure Sledding time!

GTS app shows the following trails groomed last night.  Almost full grooming session.  Right click on the map to see an enlarged version,

  • Trail 10W/13N heading north from the grooming along Hwy 45N near the WCDC Snowmobile Race Track.  All the way up the intersection(by Derby Inn) with Trail 3/17N.  Snow covered last night.
  • Trail 3/17N heading north along Hwy 45N to the intersection where trails split.  The section on the west side just before the intersection is thin & a bit rough.
  • Trail 3N along Hwy 45N to the connect with 10W/13N.  A re route & choppy all the way.
  • Trail 10W/13N from intersection with 3N to the Conover Sno-Buddies connect.  Good.
  • Trail 17N heading east all the way to Columbus Road intersection. Fair riding.
  • Trail 1 that splits of of 17N & head to Eagle Lake.  It runs along Deerview Ln & then Town Hall Rd. Remember to ride the trail that is in the ROW.
  • Tail 10/13 through town past the Ice Castle & down the Grade which is 10E.  All of 10E groomed out to the turn around at the Three Lakes Club to include 9mile spur trail.  Heading east on the one-way is Good to Fair.  Heading back to town heading west Fair with Poor sections. Snirty.
  • Trail 70/13/7 heading west (behind the Dairy Queen). Trail 70W groomed to the St. Germain BoBoen connect. Trail 13S groomed to connect with Sugar Camp at Ripco Rd.  Trail 7 groomed to Sugar Camp connect at Hwy H. Good to Fair.

Eagle Lake & Catfish Lake crossing are safe only by the orange reflective barrels.  No surface slush as of this morning.  That may change with the warm up.

We got snow right now!  Ride when got it.  See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – February 21, 2025

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 8-10”

Date of Report: February 21, 2025

Area Report:

Went for a ride on Thursday the 20th and put on 100 miles. We rode to Presque Isle, then up to Michigan to come back via the Cisco Chain. Trails were fair to good. As we came back through MI, you can see the snow get a little thinner the farther we went East. The grades were mostly flat except for the bridge crossings. Those had some large moguls on them, so slow way down when crossing.

Conover trails were mostly groomed last night, and we will be back out Friday and Saturday. Hopefully the warm up they are forecasting for next week isn’t bad. We still need more snow. Bare spots are coming out with clear skies and sun out.

News and Reports:

Trail 12 from the RR grade TIN 732 to County K TIN 731 has ruts from ATVs. There isn’t enough snow to fill the ruts, but it is getting better. We put signs at each end of the trail for Caution Next 1 mile and Rough Trail. Use caution when traveling this area.

The Cemetery Trail from TIN 724 to TIN 725, and south to TIN 727 at Church Rd is thin for snow cover. You will find a few bare spots, There is a hill between TIN 725 and TIN 726 at Lindberg Rd that was bare from sleds going up it. The swamp area did freeze up, so it is good to go.

To see where the Groomer is at, check out  Groomer Tracker  Half the cost of the app comes back to Conover Sno-Buddies to support grooming operations.

Trail Report – : Florence County, Wisconsin – February 21, 2025

Reporter:WendyG

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6-12 inches

Date of Report: February 21, 2025

Area Report:

Trails are in good condition.  If riding from the Florence area and heading east along County N, at the intersection of Section Line Road and County N the trail will run south to County B then east toward downtown Aurora. To ride Trail C6 west there are no changes.

Trail conditions east of US HWY 101 are thinner snow pack compared to the western half of the county.  The Western half has approximately 10-12″ on the ground in the National Forest and the surrounding area. On the eastern side of the county, areas around the Spread Eagle Barrens and the Town of Florence have seen an increase in snow depth to about 6-8″ . Please keep this in mind as you are traveling through the trail system.  As a reminder, R E S P E C T the trail system. many of these trails run across private property and all it takes is ONE rider to ruin it for ALL.    DO NOT BE THAT ONE

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – February 21, 2025

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Minimal

Date of Report: February 21, 2025

Area Report:

Last weekend generated a huge amount of snowmobile traffic.  This was fantastic for businesses, but was also noticeable on the trails.  Without some new WET snow, it just isn’t possible fill ruts and make it last.  Even so, trails remain in mostly good condition.  Our groomers are reporting that the wider, less traveled trails are excellent!  Tighter trails deeper in the woods are getting some snirty areas and are in fair condition.  You’ll find areas that are down to the ice base.  We simply are not able to get this dry snow to stick.  The 6″ of new snow last weekend certainly helped, it just doesn’t last long.

Overall, the riding is still really good.  We’re hearing positive comments from nearly everyone we talk to.  Get out there and enjoy it!!  Just be cautious of icy corners, and stay on your own side of the trail!

The forecast for early next week is not in our favor.  Beginning Sunday, it could get above freezing for four days with Monday in the mid 40s.  If we can do this with minimal sun, we should be able to get through this without too much trail damage.  There is potentially more snow coming on the back end of the warm spell.

If you happen to be using the Groomer Tracker app, it gives the appearance that the Barnstormers have not been grooming much.  I can assure you that we are grooming nightly, and a couple of daytime shifts.  We currently are working with two new machines that are not yet equipped with GPS, so they don’t register on the GT app.

Remember, there are logging operations on parts of trails 11 & 15 between Escanaba Lake Road and Old White Birch Road.  The impact to the trail is minimal, so no reason to avoid.  Just remember the loggers have priority over the trails & have the authority to shut them down if you get in their way.  Please be respectful of their operations.

Be sure to take advantage of our upcoming fundraising event!
