EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
EARLY SEASON RIDING – Poor to Fair

Still in the late December thaw. Temp will still hover around the 30’s during the day until Wednesday. High teens & 20’s at night. Next SNOW forecast for Tuesday.  4-5 inches. Temps will bounce up & down for the near future.  THINK COLD!

As for the trails….Adventure sledding. Trails north are much better than south trails.  Trail 13/13C the Bauers trails are in pretty good shape. Lots of tree cover.  Head north out of town on 10/13 all the way to the turn that takes you over the Wisconsin River Bridge area.  Once crossing the bridge it will be a rough.  At the 10/13 intersection head north (right turn) that will head you to the better trails. No report on 17N that branches off of 10/13 in town.  Assume it’s icy, rough & thin as it has lots of open areas.

Heading south through town will be icy & rough this morning & burn through at the road crossings.   The grade just past dairy Queen is under tree cover & should be pretty good. Heading south to Three Lakes was mushy yesterday, so today it will be icy.  Heading east on 10E will be ragged until you get to the Hockey Sports Arena along Hwy 70E.  The one way heading east one south side of road is pretty good from there.  Heading back on the north side there will be thin snow sections. Riding west of town same conditions.

With temps dropping overnight the groomers did go out to smooth out the mush before the freeze.  Catching most of the system. Below are the ones not groomed.  Sorry for the later report.  Groomers were out later.

Trail 10E – NOT groomed
Trail 1S that takes you to Eagle Lake – NOT groomed
Grampa Grahm trail that spurs off 10E at Off the Chain restaurant – NOT groomed
Trail heading west & south of town to St. Germain, Sugar Camp – NOT groomed

NOTE – DEERVIEW LANE SECTION OF TRAIL 1N THAT HEADS TO EAGLE LAKE HAS HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC.  Slow down & be aware.

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are open & marked.   Take it slow.  Hard ice & frozen slush this AM will make riding rough.  Stay by the orange reflective barrels to be safe.

Some reminders when you ride. Please no off trail riding & stop at driveways.  Also as you ride you might meet a groomer.   They are big & can’t pull over for us.  So pull over & let the driver direct you.  And oh ya give ’em a thumbs up.  They groom so we can ride!!!

Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!

See ya on the trails real soon!!  Happy New Year!
