SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER
Adventure Sledding time of the year
Varying conditions – Late season conditions
No grooming in the last 24 hours. Groomers are out on the trail using a brush cutter assembly attached to one of the Pisten Bully’s cutting brush from the sides of the trails. Clearing to make them safer & wider. If you are riding watch for them.
This is the adventure sledding part of the season. Meaning when you ride you are going to find all sorts of conditions. SNOW covered. Burn through. Icy. Mushy with even some water especially road crossing by midday. As for road routes most are bare. Under cover sections are shiny ice. This is a time of the season that really requires that you slow down. With the conditions on the trails changing quickly you can get into real trouble when riding.
The 30 degree temps continue today & through the next several days. Nighttime temps in the teens to low 20’s. An inch or two of snow on Thursday. Temps pop up even more on Saturday & Sunday.
If you want to ride a best bet might be trailer to locations that still have better snow. East drop off the Cenex Station & head east on 10. North drop off in the Bauer’s Dam/Buckatabon area. Pick up the 13’s.
Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked. Stay by the orange reflective barrels. Remember not all lakes are safe. No markers means probably not safe
55mph nighttime speed limit.
THINK COLD! KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!!
Thinking might ride Thursday. See ya on the trails!
